Can anyone help me?...

I am remember watching a Trevor Brooking 11 back in the 80's play. The great George Best played on that day and scored. Can anyone give me some more info on the match. I also remember Davy Jones from the Monkies played in a classic pair of Winfield Whoppers.

If any one has a programme from the game please could you list the teams?

I don't remember that particular game, but there was another 'George Best' game in around 1986. George Best didn't turn up, but I remember Fish from Marillion and Mo Johnston playing.

Now there would be a centre forward\centre half you'd not want to get in the way of. Having nearly been stage dived on by Fish I can vouch that he is (and always has been) one sizeable unit. Would imagine he was not the fastest on his feet unless the direction was the bar in those days.

If you get a chance to go in the Director's lounge there's a great picture Of George Best playing in that game at PVR. It's in the days when George sported a big dark beard.

I don't know what year it was but he still looked fitter than a butcher's dog. What a waste.

I just sold a programme on Ebay for a match between The George Best All Stars and a Derek Hales team played on the 11th May,but no year is given.I think it was 86.This is the match he didnt turn up for.I was selling programmes and some people were asking for their money back when they realised he wasnt playing.

As for the Rod Stewart match,i think that was the early 70s.The most memorable things about that match was the size of the crowd and Rods nose.

I did scan the original programme to the match Best played in. It listed the teams and dates etc - i'll take a look for it for more info. The photo is one of about three of Best taken during the match by a local sports photographer (who is now living in Hampshire I think).
