I am very concerned about the make up of the Team at present. We have 3 Loan Signings in the Team, Clark Masters, Ross Montague and Fabian Quintyn plus Marlon Patterson and Jerome Boyce on non-contract terms. That is approximately 45 per cent of the Team or 30 per cent of the Squad. We are not a Pub Side, we are in the Blue Square South and should be signing players on a permanent basis. I cannot accept that players are not available as Transfers are taking place on a regular basis at our level, in the Ryman Premier and in the Blue Square Premier. Neil must bite the bullet and sign players permanently otherwise we will be in a perilous situation if the above players are recalled during (in the case of emergency) or at the end of their Loan Periods.
We are back to the thin dividing line bewteen signing players who turn out to be not as good as you hoped BUT then you can't rid yourself of them as they are on contract OR using loan signings wisely
Remember the Parker era - Loads on contract only one any good - Jamie Day
My memory of the Parker era was of loads of differnet players on loan every week, probably due to the fact that the players on contract weren't up to it. Led to a very unsettled side and we were in a worse state than we are now.
I thought we appointed Neil because he would have a good knowledge of the non league scene. If he is up to the job he should be able to look at players and know who can do a job for us. If not what is he doing....
I wouldn't be too concerned about loan signings. Were you watching us before Neil got the like of Ross Montague in? We're a changed team with him in the side and improving with it.
Be great if they were permanent but as long as they're good enough to get us away from the drop zone and get the side some confidence then I'm not that bothered (yet). I can't see Neil just going after loan signings in the future, hopefully this is a short term fix. Doubt many players will commit until the Jan transfer window as it includes league and conference national.
