How has Neil got the audacity to play himself ahead of arguably our best midfielder, or is Keevil still injured. Neil just manage please as you are not good enough to play anymore, we would be a far better side with Chippy and Sam in the heart of midfield AND YOU KNOW IT. Stop putting yourself first and put the team first as we are now out the FA Cup and in the middle of a relegation battle now!
Last weeks locals reported that Sam Keevil was approaching full fitness and it is quite likely therefore that Neil was in a situation of play himself or a player who is not yet fully fit in what was an important match. Additionally he may well have taken the view that his experience would be a plus factor in the match.
I'm sure that we will see Sam Keevil back when he is fully fit and playing doesn't present the risk of negating the healing time which he has had.

I'm not a fan of Neil as a player, but then I've only seen our home games, not the away ones.
Neil could quite rightly argue though that results have improved during the period when he has been playing so perhaps he is worthy of his place. As Bruno says, we don't really have another option at the moment due to injuries.
With regard to Neil as a manager, he definitely needs more time. I don't think any of us could argue that we haven't improved the longer the season goes on. Yes, the jury is still out, but we certainly shouldn't be talking about getting rid of him just two months into the season.

Worthy of his place! You must be related to him or you are Neil Smith? He is absolute garbish... Most of the games he has played have been against c*** opposition!!!

Thank you anon.
I don't think you read my post properly - as I said, I'm not a fan of him as a player. All I was saying was that he might argue that he was worthy of his place based on recent results.
I'm also intrigued to know what the word 'garbish' means.

I'm not sure that the comment about the teams we have played when Neil has included himself were "c***" opposition" unless of course that applies to the League itself. There is only one team lower than us in the league and Barkingside that he has played against and he has played twice against Eastbourne who are 2nd in the league and Bath who are 3rd. The games in which he has not participated have with the exception of Lewes been below us in the League or ahead of us by virtue of goal difference.
The results in matches he has played in are P7 W4 L3 and the team have P13 W5 D1 L7. I'm not concluding from that that his footballing contribution made the difference but the results and by all accounts team performances have been better when he has played.

Bruno, you seem to be missing that dreadful performance bank holiday Monday against probably the worst side in the league in Thurrock and what about Hayes and Yeading at home, awlful results against poor opposition who I feel we should be beating.... Thanks for the stats though, much appreciated

* Above Welling on GD Revised stats Neil played P9 W4 L5 All matches P13 W5 D1 L7
It would appear from the revised stats that Neil is not quite such a talisman when he plays but the win percentages are still greater.
As far as Chippy v Smith goes from this seasons matches I have seen I would go with Chippy every time. I think Chippy is likely to suffer more injuries and Neil should keep himself fit to slot in if necessary.
