Ruthers would get the best out of the players for sure. He is Welling through and through and has contacts at this level, he is the perfect choice! Do you think he would stand for that crap we witnessed yesterday, I think not!!!
Get him in Barrie this week and watch the difference....
He walked out on us twice! and also just after a testimonial. He would be a terrible appointment, Id rather have Hales back.
We need someone FRESH, Just advertise the post and do it properley and appoint THE BEST CANDIDATE, not a yes man who in the owners opinion is the best man for the job for the owners.. (clueless, no experience and a yes man, or ex player....)

My view on former players managing is no different to player managers - it rarely works and is best not contemplated and this view has only been reinforced with the such appointments made at PVR since 1992 when Terry Robbins was the first to enter the arena of players/ex players managing.

I didn't go on Saturday, but this is all so sad to read, especially the post from the stones fan. Postings like that smack you around the face and makes you really wake up to the fact we are in deep trouble again.
Furthermore, with people bouncing around names of possible new managers, it becomes tougher and tougher for the man who is neck deep in it.
If we do get into a situation where we need to bring someone in (due to smith walking or sacked), we need someone who can see a mess and quickly put the basics back together. A solid non-league manager like Jim Ward would be someone I would fancy to take the step up and just get us playing again.
BKK I think Fordy would be many peoles choice. But then ask yourself why no one else has picked him up? Wasnt he assistant at Stevenage and a possible for the Crawley job?
I really believe people of a higher standing will apply, Even managers who have managed at league level. Didnt some italian apply for the braintree job who had managed in Serie B??
SACK SMITH, make a comittee from mooro, chippy and robbie ryan pick the team in the interim. ADVERTISE for a manager and assistant in the press and the website. And get the right man in before xmas . THE BEST QUALIFIED FR THE JOB, not the cheapest or an ex player or first time manager.
What is barrie doing drinking earl grey?? Do it now!!

Andy Ford would have the depth of experience we are looking for. He was at Gravesend before investment and held a steady ship. Fine he may have won anything but neither have many premiership managers, well not without a PC anyway.
Chris Kinnear was always another name mentioned but whoever takes over you would have to ask the question why would you want to?
In the event that the job becomes available then i think that Jim Ward at Ramsgate wouldnt be a bad choice what he's done at Ramsgate is a minor miracle and he knows the Kent non league scene very well. Also i think Robin Trott or Wayne Burnett would be decent appointments but IF i could have anyone then i'd go for Andy Ford
The writing is on the wall for Neil, it hasnt worked and The Club should do something quick before its too late.
I would go for Ford or Colin McBride. Who did well where ever he has been on low budgets. Both know the non league scene well.
People like Trott and Ward are not up to conference standard and that is surely what we are looking for. Not someone who "will do" but someone who will make things happen in our league and maybe above.
We are struggling in CONF SOUTH not the Ryman or kent league.
