I was about to book my train ticket for Newport - happened to glance at the official site and see the next round of the Setanta is on 22/12/07. Is that right? Couldn't see anything on the Setanta web site but then again I couldn't be bothered to look very hard.

I think it is 22nd. Crazy that clubs will have to postpone games for it and to have a fixture slap bang before Christmas. I won't be shelling out over a ton if we get drawn away to Torquay or Exeter (attractive as they might be).

I'm still trying to find enthusiasm for this cup. The league, fa cup, fa trophy will always take priority for non league clubs and i just wonder how the conference national clubs view it? I know there's money at stake and clubs have to field good teams but i think it's one more thing we can all do without. It's a bit like the Johnstone's Paint Trophy for league clubs - only any good if you get to the final.

I would have liked a big sponsor to come in for the FA trophy and have some of the early rounds live on TV.

If sponsoring the League Shield proves worthwhile to Setanta then perhaps they could step up to the plate and sponsor the FA Trophy.

I have to be honest the only real lure here is....

a) The money for each round

b) The chance of a home tie against Ebsfleet/Aldershot etc who may bring a few

c) The chance of it being live on Setanta

Apart from that looking at the teams still in the only way I can see us progressing is if we get St Albans/Thurrock

And we were well beaten at Thurrock earlier in the season. Lets face it there is no easy game for us - make some quick money - get knocked out and concentrate on the league I say
