I cannot believe that Barrie hasnt almost threatened Neil with the bullet unless things improve!! So its stay as you are then as we all expected.
If his position is not untenable now, when is it untenable? Note the only thing Barrie can say positive is Neil is working hard!!! STREWTH!
There we have it peeps..... Carry on as you are it would seem!
Note to smudger, if you can understand where the fans are coming from then get rid of the crap and replace them with better. You have filled the budget no one else. But if you keep things as they are we are down.

And if he wants the job now? He aint qualified enough. He walked out at Eastleigh before he was sacked, And hes never been a manager. Dolby failed at Tonbridge.
NO NO NO NO AND NO!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Jesus Christ if one of those two get the job we are totally fecked!
Barney is too busy with his business, and walked out for god sake! he never went scouting for players when he was assistant with us. Dobler failed at Tonbridge and we need people who have been a success and are exerienced at our level at least. NO VIRGIN MANAGERS, NO EX PLAYERS, NO UNSUCCESSFUL MANAGERS NO NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
What the hell is going to change if we do the same old crap!!
Please please tell me you agree?
We want an experienced successful manager who isnt an ex player. Is it too much to ask for a bit of professionalism and ambition.
Id rather have dobler than Barney, at least dobler never walked out on like Rutherord and Barney.
Phil coming back would be a joke after he experienced the off the field stuff last season. It would just be for the money and he would just sod off again.
Sorry, Barneys a nice bloke and was a good player for us, but he walked out on us and isnt qualified.
NO BARNEY NO DOBLER NO ABBO NO GORMAN
NO CUTTING CORNERS, NO TAKING THE PI SS. NO EASY OPTION. After 20 years do the right thing for once and get the best man for the job.

Got to say that I fully agree with Tom (for a change). Handford walked away citing "pressure of work" and suddenly reappeared when Eastleigh starting waving some cash under his nose. Also a good coach does not always make a good manager (see Mr Maclaren and Mr Hales)
Dolby and Ruthers have tried (and failed) at a lower level and Tonbridge seem to have improved a fair bit simce they left................
Gorman certainly talks a good game but is hardly pulling up trees with E & B and doesn't have the experience for me...............
I have decided not to apply this time around as I don't want to be knocked back again !! However I would like to state that I told the current manager face to face in July to sign Wes Thomas if he wanted a good striker - the same Wes Thomas who scored three against us on NYD !!
It's quite natural that when a manager goes the coach follows. Most coaches know that a new manager usually brings in his own team. Why would Handford wait and risk being out of work?
He done a great job at Welling with Ade and I've got no problem if he ever returned to the club (would prefer him as a coach though rather than manager)
Gary the simple facts are. He was offered the managers postition and was at the time the assistant manager, He gave reason as he was quitting football to spend time on his business. He then joined eastleigh for wonga. Having turned down the job and gone to another club it would be a horrendous appointment in anyway you would care to spin it. IMO!

So why did the press and a certain Welling member of staff say phil turned it down mark?? What you cannot dispute is he "left" to spend more time on his business... then went to eastleigh!
PS looks like he threw a hissy fit at Eastleigh
EASTLEIGH have sounded out their former coach Mark Blake about a return to the Silverlake Stadium following the departure of Phil Handford after just three months in the job.
Director of football David Malone has confirmed that Blake is one of "three or four people" the Spitfires have considered turning to for help after Handford resigned in the wake of last Saturday's 3-1 reverse at Welling - Eastleigh's fourth defeat from five in the Blue Square South.
A QUOTE FROM PHIL:
Handford, an ex-Welling United, Gravesend & Northfleet and Margate coach, said it was too soon to comment fully on his departure, but claimed: "Although I did resign, the damage was already done and it was irreparable. But David Hughes (team manager) has been brilliant for me and backed me 100 per cent."
DIRECTOR OF FOOTBALL DAVE MALONE SHEDS SOME LIGHT:
According to Malone, the coach's decision was made after the four-way conversation involving himself, Handford, Hughes and football manager Paul Doswell which followed last Saturday's defeat.
"I was as vociferous as anyone in saying our performances were poor and the way we were playing was poor, but Phil thought the way forward was to keep playing the way we were and he was intransigent about that," said Malone.
"But the general consensus was that either four or five players should change or we should change the way we play because we were losing games.
advertisement "For whatever reason, Phil took the decision that he didn't want to continue, which came as a bit of a shock to all of us.
"No way was he pushed to the extent that he was going to be fired and no way was it my intent or Dossie's (Paul Doswell) that he should resign - and it definitely wasn't the intention of David Hughes.
"We'd lost four out of five, so you don't slap people on the back for that, do you? But, similarly, you don't fire them.
"I don't think anyone anticipated he would react in such a manner.
"He can interpret what's happened as he likes but, at the end of the day, he's the one who resigned."

I thought he made it clear as soon as Ade was off that he wasn't interested in the job and wanted a year away. Obviously we then have the farce at Eastleigh - I thought that was a kick in the teeth for Welling - saying he was not available and then turning up at our rivals a few weeks later. I wouldn't want him and worry why he is sniffing around us at the moment. I wouldn't have thought he would be welcome at PVR- certainly hope he paid for this ticket.
