Let's hope for one at 16.45! Or he might be needing an 'Escort' out of the ground....mwah ha ha...!
Ahem.
Am I right to assume that Andy Ford was NOT one of the 20 or so applicants? I recall reading an article that suggested Mr Ford said "come and get me". Did he apply or did Barry and Barrie 'go and get him'???
We have a decent manager who IF he can steer us clear can build over the next 2 seasons and i have every faith we can challenge, given his record in signing decent players.
If it goes wrong at least they tried (the whole club) and thats all ive asked for.
Ford's rather arrogant approach to a recent interview stuck in my mind that's all. I'm happy that the Club think that they've hired the right man. I'm right behind him. I'd be as happy as the next person if he can steer us in the right direction. I just probably wouldnt want to sit at the bar and have a beer with him.
On goals conceded were about average for the league. On goals scored were bottom so it doesnt need a genius to see where the problem is.
First priority; get a couple of strikers.
Are you still sure where the problem is , After todays display ?
If we had scored 10 today they would have gone and got 20 ! Once again Keevil dispells the myth that he is a conf south standard footballer, diabolical !
Alan I wouldnt disagree, but having just conceeded 6 at home, and been pretty poor at the back most of the season too, I would suggest we need replacements in all areas.
I think we only have about three players who are good enough. This is the legacy that Smith left us. Can Ford bring in enough players to turn it around - within budget - a tough order.
For me Carpenter is a waste of space. Adds very little to a poor midfield and costs us £400 a week. If there was a way of showing him the door it would free up some much needed cash to get in some younger more hungry players.
I posted before that i hope Smith hasnt used up all the loans we are allowed. Andy is snookered here but lets hope he has enough trick shots to get us running quickly.
Defence isn't all about the back four. The midfielders must make their contribution too.
I personally think our back four aren't that bad. It's the midfield that's letting us down.
Yesterday the midfield lost the ball far too often and didn't win it much. Having a decent midfield takes the pressure off the defence and should also be creating chances for the strikers which it doesn't.
Let's hope the new management team can bring some decent players in quickly.
Brilliant posts, we concede SIX, yes SIX goals and the defence is not the problem!
I agree that all areas need strenghtening but none more so than the defence. We were run ragad at the back yesterday, Moore and Duku are going to get crucified whenever they play forwards with any pace, they are so slow! Soloman was a waste of space again and as for the new left back, well...................
Howe is just a complete waste of space, and must go Im afraid, whilst a new striker for Tuesday would be nice. Good luck Andy!

Gaz , you seem to have an unswerving confidence in our central midfield . I think Keevil getting dragged at half time said it all, he was awful . I agree the defence is rubbish and as I have said before I think we have a soft underbelly and look liable to concede at any time . But if you were there yesterday surely you couldnt fail to notice that of the 5 goals (not including the o.g) that they scored 3 were from their midfielders !!
If you read my previous post again I say we need to strengthen in all areas but mainly in defence! Moore and Duku were shocking (especially Moore) hence us letting in six goals. It amazes me the amount of praise the defence get on here, this alos makes me think players or friends of players must post on here! Moore cannot cope with any forward with any sort of pace and Duku just isn't for me! Chippy and Keevil were not at the races Saturday and Howe was a complete and utter waste of space, he is a pub player and not fit to wear a Welling shirt Im afraid. You cant play both Ellis and Mucu they are to attack minded and surely mr Ford can see this?
As I said before we need a new forward and quickly too
It`s not just the quality of the players it`s the teams work ethic. Last year under Ade Pennock everybody seemed to know what their job was in attack and defence. Simple things like defending throw ins were organised well and we regained possession from them all the time. The little things can make a difference. The gap between our midfield and our attack is huge at times. Our forwards receive the ball with their backs to goal. What can they do with the ball when the midfield are 30 metres away and very rarely follow up the passes they put through to the forwards. How often in a match do we see a nice threaded pass through the opponents defence for our forwards to run on to. Hardly ever. We are so easy to defend against. We have no midfielders who can cause trouble to defences by backing up the forwards and making runs through the centre of defences. Make the opposition think. don`t give them an easy ride. At the moment we don`t have a team. We have a defence who boot the ball anywhere. A midfelid who can`t run or give a decent pass. And a forward line with one regular player Omari ( when he is fit ) and a t lot of loanees. Who play with their back s to goal. This lot need a lot of organising. Good luck Fordy
Fordy has taken on a side which is 19th in the Division being 13th in terms of goals conceded and equal bottom (with Sutton) in terms of goals scored.
Realistically at this stage of the season wholesale changes are unlikely. In my opinion his short term target has to be signing a couple of decent midfielders and establishing a reasonable strike partnership, be that signing one player (most likely since I think Coleman and Remy are contracted) or a new partnership. I believe that with these signings we would see a significant upturn in the goals scored and goals conceded stats and that we would secure our place in the CS.
I agree that the defence isn't up to scratch but it isn't the priority in my book and should wait until later to be sorted.

I wager you're in a minority of one with your ludicrous attacks on Moore by common consent I'm sure many people's choice as player of the season so far. The damage this season has been caused on the whole by being so poor going forward. Until recently we hadn't scored a goal for ages!
I agree that Moore would be a shoo in with most people so far for POTY but he did have a poor game on Saturday. I said before that I'm not sure him and Duku can play together but they have done (successfully) before.
Defending starts from the front. The forwards didn't shut down the Cambridge back four at all, Green and Mucu didn't do enough to help their full backs and you could have driven a couple of double decker buses through the centre of midfield on Saturday.
I remember the previous manager telling me pre season how pleasantly surprised he was with our fitness levels. However, from what Andy Ford has seen in one game the fitness levels are clearly not good enough.
Spitey, your either Mr Moore himself or a friend of his for sure. Player of the season, you must be joking!
You would lose your money if you were to wager seeing as everyone I spoke to Saturday, during the game and in the bar after the game seemed to be of the same opinion of not only Moore but Duku as well.
I think Mooro himself would admit that he had a bit of a mare on Saturday and immediate post match discussion is not surprisingly charged with the emotions of the match just seen. In the cold light of day and taking the season as a whole Mooro has done a good job.
In my opinion both he and Duku lack pace and playing them together does make us a bit vulnerable on occasion but their experience and reading of the game by and large compensates for this.

Totally agree Bruno. Mooro may not be the fastest or fitest of all players, but at least he always gives 100% in every game............that's a lot more than can be said for other players in the squad.

Well I seem to have gathered some support! The main thrust of my post was to comment on the lack of respect shown to a fine servant of the Club. It would be interesting to know of your choice so far for player of year (maybe no-ones worthy). To my mind the only other contenders are Ryan and Sinclair (before he got injured), funnily enough both defenders!! Alternatively we could invite Ross Montague back for his startling cameo of games which at least means we still have a chance.
