The following is an extract from an interview with Andy Ford from this weeks SVBT

I'll be sitting down with the chairman over the break to see what the ambition of the club is and what finances are in place," said Ford. "There are definitely some players here who are involved in my long-term plans, but it is where we want to go as a club that will be the deciding factor about what is changed in the summer.

"We will have to spend cash to get a 25-goal a season striker, so we will only be able to do that if that money exists.

Looks like it could be an interesting conversation

interesting conversation yes, and a brief one I expect !!!

Anyone know the details of Ford's contract - is he definitely around next season ?? Ive a fear that if he doesnt get the response he wants in the summer to match his own ambitions that he might move on.

The doom and gloom merchants are gathering - I do wonder why anyone bothers

not being negative Mark, just asking a question and being realistic. Ford obviously wants to achieve big things, and make the most of the opportunity and resources he has at Welling, and this should be applauded. Just asking the question, will the club want the same thing. I hope they do. I do not see how that can be anything but positive.

With the way this season has gone it is easy to be negative but it seems that we could finish the season on a bit of a high and why don't we just see how things pan out in the summer rather than assuming the worst.

Absolutely

I am not sure that I will start a new season with as much (tempered) optimism than I will next year

We have a management team that clearly knows what they are doing and what they want to acheive

We do NOT have the money of a Lewes or Chelmsford but spent wisely we have enough

We cant go and spend ten grand on a 20 goal a season man, but fordy could be approaching sides now with a view to a season loan , We may even get Gargan if Brighton dont keep him.

Andy needs to be realistic, we had no spare money when he signed, so nothings changed, to walk away would be stupid. Hes proved he can do the job on a tight(ish) budget so do the same again, The club may be able to throw a few quid at him but i understand they gave him a few quid when he took over.

Im not negative and if Fordy walks away i wont really be blaming the club, i will insist they get a decent manager in again though.

Hopefully Fordy will stay and be able to get the players in. I am sure he will and can as he can dump those he doesnt want and build his own squad.

I would think Barrie would say, yes we want to go up if we can yes we want to hit the play offs yes we want a decent team, however this is the budget based on crowds and sponsorships. If you get your team passing people off the pitch and crowds and sponsorships go up to x level then we will try to give you x at xmas.

As you were gents. I think fordy could win this league on the budget he has at the club, hes a confident manager, come in and done well. Carry on sir.

The worry is that he has done so well with Welling in such a short time that other clubs may take an interest and tempt him away, especially if he feels that Welling can't match his amibition. I certanly hope not - waht he has done with this group of players has been superb and with his own players next year, play offs are on the cards.

Couln't agree more Chelwing, Fordy and Barney have done a great job. I'm already looking forward to the side they can put together and we haven't finished this year yet.

I just hope they are still around to do the job
