The grass certainly aint growing under Fordys feet.  Having produced the miracle and ensured our Conference South survival with the best final 10 games results since 1997 the Bexley Extra reports that he is already in discusssions with 12 potential signings.  He is expecting to know his budget at the end of the week and hopefully that means he will be able to make offers to his targeted players.

Other reported news:

Ellis Remy who was Neil Smiths final signing in his attempt to find a goalscorer has been released after having scored 1 goal in 649 minutes on the pitch.

Tony Sinclair and Orlando Smith have been offered terms for 2008/9 which means we will get a fee should they move on which hopefully they won't.

Unspecified players have said they want to prove themselves but Fordy says he is not in a position to hand out contracts so it looks like non contract terms if they stay.

Great news, no mucking about then.

Remy - s**t, simple as that, no pace, no physical presence for a big guy, and no goals or assists, in addition didnt he miss a penalty ?? One goal in that many minutes is unacceptable even for a team bottom of the league. Im afraid to say I could see this one coming when he was playing for Folkestone reserves the week prior to signing for us - I bet they were glad to be rid of him.

Although I dont doubt for a moment that he wants to keep both Mucu and Sinclair, the fact he has offered them terms shows how shrewd he is business wise, knowing he either gets the players he wants or he gets some cash to replace them - cant fail to win here.

And good news too that the players have faith in him and want to play for him and commit to the club knowing we are moving the right way, quite in contract to the last manager where nobody wanted to play for him at all - not even NetherCLOTT.

Happy days in 08/09 for the Wings.

The more I see and hear what Fordy is doing for the club...the more I like the bloke. I think it could be a good season coming up.

I acknowledge that Andy Ford did a first class job in escaping relegation but we must not get carried away with our prospects for next season as the size of the playing budget may well prevent Andy from signing quality players.
It is likely that we will be without both Sam Gargan and Sonny Cobbs (two highly influential players) as they will probably both be retained by Brighton.

During the close season, it is imperative that Barrie and his fellow Directors pay particular attention to the expansion of the commercial side of the Club as I feel that this aspect has been neglected for a variety of reasons not least with Barrie having to cope with the tragic and untimely death of Graham.
It would make economic sense in appointing a Commercial Director which would not involve any expenditure to the Club as he could be employed on a commission only basis.   I believe that there is enormous potential in Welling and the surrounding areas to "sell the Club" and to maximise the sponsorship income of Welling United.
Additional income from the increased sponsorship of the Club would enable the playing budget to be increased and, in turn, improve the side and bring in new supporters which will, in turn, increase the attendances to watch a successful side.   For instance, there are many disaffected Charlton fans out there after their below par performances last season.

Absolutely correct

No doom and gloom - make a difference now!!!! - Turn up, listen, contribute and decide how YOU can help

Big chance here guys to have a good season - No I am not getting carried away - I said good season - whatever that may be.............but fighting relegation is something I'd rather not experience again especially next year

What are the chances of signing Matt Bodkins and Daisy again?  Bodds scored twice for Thurrock on Saturday and both would be a great assett to the Wings.

I cant make tommorow but I have seen this idea being laid out by other clubs so thought it might be a good suggetsion.

Mini Season tickets i.e A book of 5, 0r a book of 10 tickets and you use them when ever you can get to a home game. You could sell a book of 5 tickets for around £45 and a book of 10 for £90. Just an idea but im sure like me many people cant get to every home game but would love to be a seaon ticket holder this way these people could have theese tickets and you can use them whenver you can get to the game plus the club get more money upfront.

Also Rob Gier has left Aldershot he trialed and indeed scored for us last pre season a very good player wink wink Mr Ford!

Evening

Some of us fans at Princes Park ( Dartford - now promoted to the Rymans Premier ) where you may have also ended up, would like a look at Bodkin again

He played for the Darts four times on loan and did OK

Anyway we'll have to see what happens

Good luck for next season       Welling really deserved to stay up in the end       hope the Darts draw you in a cup  rather than someone like Dover

It will just be nice to compete in the cups rather than the Wealdstone debeacle we had last year

Evening all

I think that Anonymous' idea of mini season tickets is one maybe worth looking into. Being at uni I can't get to games that often but would gladly buy a book of 5/10 tickets to use when I can. It may not be feasible but Charlton season ticket holders for instance may be able to buy them and just come to games when Charlton are away, helping boost attendances.

Every little helps after all, and may help boost the coffers mid season etc to aid Fordy in building a decent squad!

I unfortunately can't make the 8th, however a little one to throw into the mix - sponsor a player? (or perhaps the number as players may come and go more frequently at this level).

I know at Charlton if you sponsor a player you get a signed shirt and an end of season dinner plus your name in the programme - may be worth considering?

We really must also push match and matchball sponsorships next season, with suitable and appropriate packages for both. It shouldn't matter if both are done for the same match. We'd be plain foolish to turn down perfectly good money away like this!

There used to be a "sponsor a player's kit" type thing not long ago. It was in the program every week. I think you got the signed player's shirt at the end of the season.

It may not raise much but every little helps.

I'm with Welling Jim on this mini season ticket lark, as I am 140 miles away and at Uni and would like to commit myself in sizable chunks, otherwise I'll always have an excuse not to fill the car with petrol or something!

Would also make a nice present request as no-one is going to get me a full one!

Cheers guys and hope the Fordster can bring us lots of joy.

Towards play offs and beyond!

Dickie
