Sadly, the WSU has been forced to postpone the Golf Day planned for this Monday (29th September) at Birchwood. We apologise to those of you who had signed up to play and we realise you will be disappointed as we've had to cancel this event at fairly short notice. But this is due to circumstances beyond the control of anyone at Welling and the WSU, and we do hope to re-arrange this event and bounce back bigger and better either later this year before the clocks go back or early next year.
WSU events continue tonight with the Meet the Manager this very evening in the Wings Bar at 7:30. (£4 entry; £6 entry includes food), and we hope to see as many of you as possible there!
Would you like to expand on that? After the Tommy Smith affair unless you expand it could be deemed as another WSU fck up!!
However if Birchwood have upped the prices or double booked then it clearly is not the WSU's fault.
Might i suggest when you book the next one that more information and "bumph" is available and a better course is booked. Chart Hills, Woodlands, Eltham Warren, Blackheath, THE LONDON CLUB (maybe not). Etc etc
You do say "We have had to cancell it" would you like to say why?
Also will anyone be taking notes on tonights proceedings or recording the audio?

I wouldn't like to expand on that here on a public forum - the event is merely postponed; we are trying to re-arrange it using the same provider later. However, feel free to contact me at gary.meyler@communities.gsi.gov.uk, so that I can e-mail you privately.
When we do re-arrange the event, I will ask - with the Golf Club's express permission - if we can add any accompanying publicity material about the day itself on Club websites, so that prospective clients can digest information instantly about the facilities available, etc.
The Meet the Manager events in the past haven't had notes taken at them or be recorded. I'm sure that a summary of the topics discussed will appear here, the next available Matchday Programme, local press (websites), etc.
To be fair I had a golf day there last Saturday, and overall I thought it was superb value for Money.
I have had a golf day at the Selsdon Park Golf Course for the past four years and whilst it's great to have it at a really nice course, the costs become astronomical - for a WUFC golf day I think it's perfect.
Wayne Mardle, Peter Manley, Peter Evison, Mark Walsh, (either / and) plus the pro stage set up and the top mc in the game there for the night. You could also get people like Phil Taylor but your looking at a grand plus.
It could either be a head to head between two of the players over a long format OR one of them taking on people in the crowd. with a break for food and a question and answer session and photos with the players.
The usual scenario here is £10 entry
Probably looking at £500 to cover costs of the players/mc and equipment if ONE player and 900 ish for two players. But as i know the players mentioned... we would be getting then for the bottom prices.
IF its something the WSU would like to do let me know.
PS Stevenage Borough and Kettering Town are doing similar next month. Naturally it would need to be advertised in the shopper etc but if done in advance i think it would be a goer. Added bonus local darts fans and players would attend and they drink like fishes!. Depends how many the clubhouse holds you would be wanting to get 100 plus people in i think and more if possible. Could also hold it elsewhere locally if bigger venue but under the Welling United/WSU banner..
As i say that includes all the stage and lighting and scoreboards and speakers.
