Well, it's been 7 months since my 17 year stint as a regular at PVR came to a sad end and 'soccer' here in Oz just ain't the same.
I've been keeping a keen eye on the scores so far this season but, just for me, would anybody care to elaborate on the goings-on in Andy Ford's first few months at the helm? Are we any good? Are we likely to be down the wrong end of the table at the end of the season again?
Looking forward to some sensible answers please......!!!
Well at the end of last season after Neil Smith nearly relegated the club Ford performed a minor miracle and pushed us up the table with what can only be discribed as promotion form. He worked hard in the summer and has assembled a very young squad of about 18 players. Pre Season was reasonable and the team played some good footie. The first league game against Bath City was a surprize 4-0 away win. Another win at home against Braintree followed. The next home game saw us draw against Basingstoke. Then wins against Thurrock and Fisher put us right up with the front runners AFC Wimbledon and Team Bath. After that it`s all gone a bit moody. We started shipping a few more goals. Went a bit goal shy and have generally started to lose confidence all over the pitch. We need to get ourselves out of the slump pretty quick as we are starting to slip down the table and have to play some good sides in the next few weeks. Overall I`d say we will finish mid table.
