got to say that bartley was by far the best striker the club has every had that season we went up to the conference he scored 65 goals no one has ever got close to him but im very aware that this was at a lower level than robbins played for us but it is the level that we are at now.
before anyone says anything robbins did get 54 goals also that season for crawley but at least we got him straight after bartley left so not a bad replacement.
paul gorman could have been a great forward for us as well if hadn't broken his leg 14 goals in 10 games speaks for itself in the conference.

Bartley, although i only saw him for a few seasons. You can't argue with his record though - amazing.

For a player who i witnessed a lot of - Robbins.

I am with Stafford on this.

Bartley was the king of PVR - no question.

Abbo was not everyone's cup of tea at Welling but I think the phrase "form is temporary but class is permanent" was made for him. Wherever he played he scored goals.

"Inchy" gets a very admirable bronze medal.

I think Cascarino might have played a couple of FA youth cup games for Welling in the late 70s. His name is in one of the old programmes that I have,

Missed by a country mile surely..

John GOD Bartley number 1

A fair way clear of Inchy and Abbo who would be hard to split for second best.
