Worcester City F.C. have been in touch with the club to say that their Supporters Trust will be involved in the 'Kick it Out' anti-racsim awareness campaign when we play them at St. George's Lane on 1st November.
Before the match, Worcester will be having about 70 children playing small-sided games on the pitch in special anti-racsim t-shirts, who will then lead out the team players for the 3pm kick-off. They will also be organising a penalty shoot out at half time. Worcester Kindly thought it would be nice to involve possibly half a dozen or so Welling fans' children from the age of 5-14, who would like to be involved.
If you/your children are interested, each child will need to bring:
* boots/ trainers; * shin pads with them; and * provide parental consent for photos etc.
So if you are looking to travel to Worcester on Saturday 1st November, please let me know using:
* this e-mail thread; * the contact page of the WSU website page (www.wsu.org.uk); or * feel free to let me know at the next 2 home matches where I'll be at the WSU table outside the Club Shop.
I'll then collate your details, notify Worcester's Community Support Officer that your children will be taking part and provide you with details of who to speak to and where to go on arrival at the ground.
As I pointed out to Worcester, however, I'm aware that the average Welling traveller is hardly in the first flush of youth, and she kindly offered to open this offer up to older Wings fans if no younger fans are intially interested. But I think it's only fair that we should ask our younger fans if they'd like to take part first.
So, here's a marvellous opportunity to take part in matchday activity for a marvellous cause on the pitch of a Blue Square South Team.
