Good positive article and deserved praise for Charlie after some inspired displays. Link below.

So it aint "If Charlie keeps banging them in, Welling could go places", its "If Charlie keeps scoring he can escape non - league football".
Cheers Teddy, nice one pal.

Be realistic.  Teddy's son is a young player who has been at pro clubs. Of course he wants him to play above our level and no doubt Charlie does as well. Good luck to him if he keeps banging them in and gets spotted - it means we'll benefit from the goals.

"someone will tip someone off theres a good player down at Welling"

no sh1t Teddy, I wonder who might do the tipping off ?? yourself perhaps, not like you havent got any contacts.

But as mentioned above, good players come and go, we cant hold them forever, as long as we get the best out of them when they are here, then a good deal when they move on, Im happy.

There is a whole team full - Blackburn, Ming, Faz, Protheroe, Quinn etc etc

All young players who would love to play at a higher level given the right chance....biggrin

I haven't noticed Teddy at games recently. I know he was being linked with some jobs - is he at Watford? I was thinking- is there a relationship between Teddy not being there and Charlie's goal scoring form? Or is it just that he is playing in his best position now?

haha, I wouldnt quite clasee Protheroe and Quinn as young players what with them being in their 30s, but I take your general point smile.gif

Teddy was definitely at the Weymouth game.

The best way for Charlie to play at a higher level will be to shoot us to promotion. If he continues to score at that level he will definitely get noticed.

RS you are spot on mate.  Charlie is good, but not brilliant.
He needs to work on lots more aspects of his game before he gets looked at by a much higher team.  He is good at the things that he does and a good goal poacher, just like his Dad.
Charlie, if you ever read this forum - please, put some weight on, learn to control the ball on your chest ( and not give it away ) and keep on scoring mate.

I've no doubt that when Charlie leaves, it'll be for a club who can offer more than Welling United football and financial wise, I just don't appreciate his old man belittling our club in public like that.

You cant bite at what gets printed. Simple thing is to go up to Teddy and ask him why he didnt promote the club in the interviews. Maybe he did and they changed his words.

You will only know if you ask Teddy.

Edward?? Not at All the goal against Holland makes him a legend for me. The guy kept himself fit played for England and so what if hes seeing a few young ladies and enjoying his money... Hes earnt it.

Its the drug pushing little chavs and roooood bois i want to slap.

Also i would imagine that Edward suggested to Charles that Welling would be a good move for him.

Cut him some slack, we were lucky to get him i think and if he does well we will do well and hes started doing the bizzo.

Keep it up

....and yes maybe Teddy could mention Welling a bit in his various interviews. He can always slip in he loves watching Charlie at Welling and what a great club Welling is etc.  But to rip the man to bits on a forum when his son plays for us is a bit silly IMO, especially when Charlie is starting to produce the goods.

I heard the interview on Radio Kent just after 5pm on Saturday after the Bath game...it was quite long, and I don't think he belittled us at all.

He's only doing what any decent father would and that's to help his family. Good luck to him for it.

He's been to more games than not to see Charlie play.
