so far, that's the only result....
Go Wings!!!! Good time to get some points and some confidence back, St. Albans pre-match forum comments make it sound like they are not playing well right now. Let's take advantage of that.
We were crusing at 2 nil they were not in the game at all. Then Ryan Johnson does the one thing you were always taught as a kid not to do which is "never play the ball across your own goal" and what happens there player thinks it is his birthday and says thank you very much I will have that and slots it past the keeper and from then on we fell apart and when the second goal went in I thought that's it, but to the team's credit we plugged away and Ming got down the byline for Charlie to tap home 87th min what a feeling!
Huge win that.
Special mention for Jack Parkinson he had a very good game, as well as Ming who was causing them all sorts of problems as our last goal proved, the problem was he hardly saw the ball 2nd half.
I thought Mucu had a particularly good game on the left last night, as well as Ming and Sheringham. Wilkinson looked much more confident and kicking was much improved over Masters.
We had moments of great football last night - the kind of stuff we need to produce for 90 minutes if we have any hope of making the playoffs. For some reason we seemed to go into self destruct mode after the break, showed good character to get the win.
Sorry to disagree - I thought Mucu had an awful first half - gave the ball away far too often. You only had to watch the reaction on the bench to see how frustrated they were. To be fair he improved considerable in the second half. I though Lee Blackburn ran the show in midfield. Found space and linked up play well. I agree with Noughts and Fives - we were coasting after getting the goals and you could see confidence ooze through the team. We let them back in and they came strong for a while. However I thought we weathered that storm and towards the end I could only see one side nicking a goal which turned out to be true.
I hope that the team will kick on from this. Lots of football was on the ground tonight and it produced results. The winning goal being a great example of what we can do when we get the ball down and play. Superb one two between Ming and Blackburn. A superb cross from Ming and Charlie couldn't miss - still had my heart in my mouth until it hit the back of the net.
St Albans won't be our hardest test but it was good to play them whilst they are in a bad run so we can develop some belief.
I thought David Wilkinson in goal needs a mention - he came and collected some difficult balls early on and I wonder what confidence this gives to the rest of the side if they feel that they can trust the guy behind the sticks. His kicking looked good too. He is here until the end of the season and looks like a good piece of business for us.
Christ - if that is Mucu having a good game then I would hate to see him having a poor one ?! When he should have kept it he tried a ridiculous pass and when he needed to pass he got caught in possession.
I was very glad for the three points as I don't think we played that well at all. Took our chances in the first half and when we got the ball down and passed it we looked easily the better side as the winning goal proved.
However we still need some additions to the squad and desperately need a pacy outlet up front. The result was all important and hopefully will breed some confidence in the squad.
A little bit of confidence will come back after that important win. They ALL deserve a pat on the back even if they played a 5hitty pass or had a bit of a stinkey poos game. It put the club right bang in there again.
The thing which we know is different THIS season and we truly know is different, is the club, the manager, the staff, the players and the fans are trying to go up. Now you dont always get what you want and IMO this is the first year in christ knows how many where everyone is trying to go up. Rather than put the pressure on everyone and say we have to do this and that and if we do that we wont go up or get in play offs. Realise the players are learning and trying and it will come soon. If it comes this year superb.
PS can anybody tell me just how good a signing was Lee Blackburn?

Blackburn gets better every game I see him play. Puts himself about in the tackle,a good passer. Also very good with from dead ball situations. One of the other areas that worries me after the last couple of games is right back. Protheroe cannot come back quick enough. Johnson (who I like) had a stinker in the 2nd half, giving there goal away, and Ming, who was excellent on the right wing last night proved he wasn't the answer on saturday. The new defneder Dayes looked big and strong as well, including absolutely clattering one of there forwards early on! Shame he went off as we were still 2 up then
I understand what you are saying but they don't all deserve a pat on the back if they play as poorly as they did second half and, judging by the reraction of Mr Dack as we were leaving, they weren't getting a pat on the back either !
I am more than happy with this season to date and more than happy to trust the judgement of Andy Ford going forward. He knows what we need and he is trying to do something about it. The next few games are massive with games against a lot of other potential play off teams - however we need to play considerably better than last night to keep up there.
Lee Blackburn has probably been the most consistent player over the last two or three months. Wasn't sure about him earlier in the season but he is certainly a key part of the team now. Jack Parkinson played well last night (in my opinion) and could be a very good player in time.

RE: St All Brans V The Mighty Mighty Play Off Chasing Wings Updates
Amazing attendances, our away support increasing to levels every other club in the BSS (except the wombles obviously) would die for, a great set of young players, new signing Lawrie Dudfield and almost certain promotion to the BSP.
Life is wonderful in Chelmsford, come over and join us clarets if you like.
