Absolute farce, another team that thought they could buy success and went t1ts up. I have no sympathy, we shouldnt forget they went full time and paid a load of mercinaries who pi55ed off when they went t1ts up. then the joke with the swaps with Dulwich management and players.. chairman!! etc etc Now this?? A bird in charge of a team? How would you feel if you were one of the hardcore fans that have been there 30 years? Jesus, Barrie (And Graham) had had some stick over the years but thank god they never ran the club like a joke.

The problem I see is that if Eastleigh win and win well then people will be saying it was a gimee for Eastleigh. Imagine if they beat us to the play offs by 3 points.
I can't imagine for a moment that she will really be in charge - pick the team, tatics etc. I would hope it is just a money making thing like being a mascot. A chance to go behind the scenes and sit in the dug outs. If it anymore than this then that would be shocking and I would total agree with Noughts and Fives. I would have thought that the League would want to look at this. Chances are if Eastleigh make it to the paly offs then some-one will look at these three points even if it isn't us.

Exactly. can you imagine Dave Mehmet or any other manager in this league (even Fordy) giving way like this? I wouldn't even want to be around if Gavin Sutton, the supporter's team manager, was asked to make way for any kind of similar sponsorship exercise.
Good luck to her and Fisher, though. But there's ways of supporting your team. I'd far rather hobnob in the Executive Lounge with a few pints and a good buffet than potentially get in the way of and upset matchday team preparation, etc.
It's a bit of a joke, really. If a man wanted to be manager of Fisher and had only had experience at boys under 11 level, they would be laughed out of the club; I don't see why it's any different for a woman.
There's no reason why a woman couldn't manage a Conference South club, but I would expect them to have much more experience in women's leagues and lower men's leagues.
This is only being done because Fisher are so short of cash that they can't afford to pay an experienced manager and this move will, of course, bring more money into the club. I'm sure there'll also be a wealth of press at her first match.
And, let's face it, Fisher couldn't be doing much worse in the league and I suppose they feel they have nothing to lose.
I see this as an opportunity, there are not enough women in football and why shouldn't a women manage a male side. If she's got the right experience and credentials then why not?
err, but you havent the right experience or credentials love, get back in the tea-hut !!
'The publicity has been excellent for our club and we more than doubled our usual home attendance so I'm happy. I think Donna and the team's performance proved this wasn't just a publicity stunt. The £500 raised by Donna was a nice token gesture but we wanted to give her the experience, she deserved it. The supporters wanted it because they were the ones who sponsored Donna in the first place and I wouldn't be a very good chairman if I didn't listen to the fans. Donna's taking her coaching badges and in September she will be fully qualified to manage in the Conference. She's pestered the board for nearly two years for this chance and I'm glad we could do this for her. Donna wasn't just anyone, she loves this club, she's put in the hard work and proved to the board she has the right credentials. Other clubs appoint their own people and promote from within and that's what we've done here. Donna's now seen what's involved and I see no reason that if she continues on this path, gains further experience that takes those coaching badges she can do a job in football going forward.'
