Sorry to repost on thread but just noticed Chelmsford lost. Oh deep joy no Duanne Dibley (if you know Red Dwarf you will understand) this weekend slagging us off.
it is nice to see some Dons fans give us credit - there were a few mugs near the Welling fans who just couldn't take it. Getting mouthy and aggressive just because they were being outplayed - like a load of schoolgirls (but were 40 year old blokes!!!). Typical linos who gave everything to AFC - will they ever grow any balls? Welling fans were amazing today and created a good atmosphere, easily beat the boring chants of 'A-F-C-WIMzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz'
Our tactics were spot on, players played for the shirt today and for Pullen to get MOTM says it all.
Got to laugh at the Terry Brown's programme headline ' home form is the key'
I agree the formation is spot on and i fink we need to give some credit to Tony Graham Jack and Charlie because they have been fantastic the past few weeks well done boys
thought you were the best side that we've played at home in the league this season and you certainly deserved your win, which could have been by a greater margin had it not been for some top saves by pullen.
on top of that, wanna say that i thought you were the best bunch of away fans we've had this season aswell. don't normally hear the oppo fans at kingsmeadow but you lot were very loud. well done, you're a credit to your club.
good luck in your attempts to get into the playoffs - but i'm not wishing you good luck in them, just in case we are in there with you!
John Fashanu, Neil Sullivan, Vinnie Jones, Marcus Gayle, Danny Kedwell: your men took one hell of a beating.
We were fantastic today, could have scored so many more. Nobody had a bad game in my opinion and ironically, the worst of our players was probably Sanchez who missed two golden opportunities earlier in the match. Once again Arter was outstanding, and gives us that little bit more quality we were lacking before he came and is one of the reason our form's improved. That knock off the defender to win the corner at the end was class. The play-offs will still be a tough ask even after this win, but if we keep winning anything can happen. I'd much rather Wimbledon went up than Hampton, because at least Wimbledon played some good football and didn't try to kick us off the pitch. I thought the atmosphere created by the Welling fans made the match even better, outsinging all 3000 of the Dons' fans culminating in the mad frenzy after our goal.
Woke up first thing and saw a good sunny day, plays the AFC supporters this morning and after a tough first half we dominated the second half to storm through and win 3 - 1
So for the afternoon game...
Got there at about 2.45 and asked where we had to go with all this segragation lark and to my joy and common sense, they decided not to make this a segregated game and move that should be applauded.
So 10 mins prior to kick off it was great to see all the wings supporterers (200+)gathered behind the away end and really set the scene when the boys came out they knew we were there and you could tell from the outset they were up for it.
Some great chances in the first half but just couldn't convert them.
We were advised by one of the stewards not to go up the other end cause that's were the hard core stand, so red rag to a bull straight up the other end.
What a second half total attacking football we could and should have scored 3 or 4, but that one moment seeing Sanchez tuck home the rebound sent all the supporters in a mad frenzy not seen in those numbers since Huddersfield.
Those final 10 minutes were painful with all the injury time but when the final whistle went, they joy from every one was simply F***ing awesome and one I will remember for a while.
Great atmosphere created by all who travelled, wouldn't it be great if we can attract similar levels for the rest of the run in and just maybe...
I had to work today (the notorious Egyptian shopkeeper insists that I have to work saturdays more often now) so couldn't make the game and naturally was gutted. But I found out the score on Sky Sports News on the telly after the game in the staff area. I jumped out of my chair and screamed 'YEEEEESSSSSSSS' but no one could understand why cos they were all enevitably talking about the Fulham v Man Utd game. They thought I was mad! I've had a big smile on my face since. Not only that but I done Corals for £60 on my treble today. Happy days. Good work boys, though not that surprised after last weeks performance. Keep it up and you never know where it can take us. COME ON YOU WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well played, Welling - fully deserving of your win. Amazed your not in the play-off spots tbh. Looks like a tough call for you to make them now - but AFCW, H&Y (twice), and Hampton have all been on long winning runs this season so why not you guys?
A fantastic game. Turning up at 1:30 and finding about 300 people already at the ground drinking in the sun, I had a good feeling.
The noise we made was fantastic, the football great, all in a all one of the best aways I've ever done. Two little idiots in the second half insisted in singing on their own at the welling fans, try to wind us up but we just kept singing. There was a dons fan there who was getting frustrated and bleated out "Oh for f*ucks sack, can you just make a mistake and do something wrong", which I think sums up how we played.
It's in our hands to get as many points from the remaining games, if it's meant to be it will happen.
This isnt a criticism of the clubs organisation, yet a relatively large away following of around 150 self-segregated themselves into a small section of the Tempest End during the second half, where the acoustics allowed their superb support to dominate vocally during the second half.
Good report and an interesting preview from Friday as well. I'm not convinced there were 150 of us though.
If there was a 100 of us I would be surprised - however all of us who were there will never forget it. Fantastic result and great performance. If I had a complaint it was that we should have won by more!!
What a weekend, AFC 0 WELLING 1, TOTTENHAM 1 CHELSEA O, sorry son Ierland win, London Irish win. Gutted i miss them all !...but lets hope we take the same surport to Maidenhead.. my boy and i will make that 1....
Great team performance - thoroughly deserved win. And really good support, too.
I think it's the first time I've seen a sizeable away following in the athletics end, as normally the only unsegregated games are attended by so few away supporters you don't notice them.
again what a day it was on saturday! and watched the highlights and loved mings celebration but at the time i had no idea who'd scored - i just saw the net ripple and went mad!
