as fans our glass is always half empty - lets be positive - look at this email from a mate:
Yeh you should be no relegation worries, total opposite season to last year just missing out on the Play-Offs and your in the Final of a Cup competition plus you've a derby against Dover next season as they've won their league could have been so much worse
I've never considered the Dover game a derby. I've always thought Bromley or Fisher to be derby matches. Even Thurrock are closr than Dover! (though of course that aint a derby!!) But yeah, we've had a FANTASTIC season. Fordy took over when we were on the brink of dropping down a division, sorting out the playing staff he considers to be not worthy of his vision for the club, and yes, we've made a cup final (should have been 2 cup finals!), and with a month to go until the end of the season were still sniffing around the play off places. (even though it still is mathematically possible to make the play offs in all reality we probably won't make it). So for next season I have nothing but optimism.
I dont thing we have a god given right to get in the play offs and Andy has done a great job this season whether we finish 6th or 12th.
What really gets to me is when people (fans and management and players) accept second best or people take the P and people say oh never mind chaps.
7th or 8th is a good season but only if the following season sees improvement and mistakes are learnt from.
what i also cant stand is people that havent got the guts/balls/scrotes to stand up against what is wrong. that makes them gutless and easily controllable and makes it easier for the P to be taken.
Positives this season
Parky, Charlie S and Charlie M, Lee Blackburn, Andrews and the style of football played and the ambition of the owners, the management staff and the fans
Negatives
Letting one or two players take the p1ss. WE HAVE TO STOP EMPLOYING MERCINARIES at ALL COSTS and those that swan about like they are Messi or Ronaldo and are inconsistent, slagging off the fans who have dug deep to help improve the budget, bottling it when it came down to needing a little run. Fans with sh1t in their eyes and no conviction.

I agree we can look at this season and see massive improvements etc etc.
BUT I do think it will be a missed opportunity if we don't reach the play offs. My reasons are;
- I don't think i've seen that many good sides this season - I think we have had the players to achieve it (possibly some too late) - This league will be stronger next season - We might not keep our current playing staff and replacing might be hard - Players have formed (no doubt down to AF) a good bond/team spirit, something i haven't seen for years. - We are playing a much improved game of football, this has caught out teams like Hampton at home, AFC away.
