Hang on

"Ive got to have the tools to do it"

One could say that we fecked up this season and put that down to experience, that doesnt mean that had Andy had an extra £500 a week he would have hit the play offs. We had every chance at one stage but we weakened on the run in.

I would humbly suggest that the tools were there this season thanks to the Hobbins ambition and money raised by the WSU. What i really dont like is the veiled threat hinting at wanting more money.

The manager motivates the players, and we were in a position where the play offs were attainable. I would suggest Andy has the tools and a bad workman blames his tools. IF and its a big if (may have been misquoted or badly represented) he is saying he wants more money for next year. I would say thanks Andy good luck elsewhere and go and get Nicky Brigden back.

MONEY isnt why we never reached the play offs this year. IMO

I personally hope Andy thinks he is good enough under a similar budget and will learn from the mistakes he and some of his players have made, and he rolls his sleeves up and cracks on next season. Its a bit of a slap in the face to the hobbins and the fans to say he hasnt had the tools when they have bent over backwards this season for him and the players came up short from a good posotion.

I hope he stays but he has to get a grip on reality and see that we never went up this season due to missed opportunities and failing to beat a few sh1t teams when the pressure was on. NOT buy being unable to sign two more players.

To prove my point

Andy has had CONSIDERABLY more in his budget than Adie and Both squads were in reach of the play offs and faded. One would hope that experience of this season and a SIMILAR budget to this season would be enough for Andy to deliver the goods.

The ball is is Andys court... NOT the clubs.

There is going to be a lot less money in football over the next few years due to the recession. If his budget remains the same then compared to other sides this will place us in a better situation than most. Many clubs have had big cuts in their budgets - Bromley for one. I think it is unrealistic to ask for more money.

I think that he, and we, should be grateful that we are part of a club that manages well and keeps within its budgets.

Don't agree JGFC. Andy basically started again this season. I think he's done remarkably well with a very young squad. Two ways of looking at what he's saying - one is that he's got to be able to hang on to the players he wants to keep. The most disappointing thing about this level of football is that every season there is such a big turnaround of players. The second is that he needs to strengthen the squad he's got. We've relied too much on loan players alongside Charlie this season. I think we have the nucleus of an excellent team, nexts eason we should be looking to move on and to do that he needs to strengthen the squad.l

Hold on, hold on. I didn't see anything in the interview where he asked for more money. He just said he must have the tools to do it. That could mean not having a budget cut, not insisting on a budget increase.

I think if he keeps the majority of the squad and makes a few shrewd loan signings like he did this time we'll have another good season.

I don't think you'll have many clubs splashing out more money in this current economical climate. Dover may do. There's always one club spending more money than they've got and later regretting it.

I took his quote and remembered what he said this season about needing more money. He got that and imo money isnt the reason we faded. I am hoping his quote doesnt lead to wanting more money thats all. If he does want more money then i dont think he will get it.

More explicit comments from Fordy about 'tools' and money next season can be found on the kentish football site.

I read the situation as Fordy expecting a cut in the playing budget but wanting to know asap what he will have next season so that he can offer contracts to some of the existing squad.

Nice to see thanks given to WSU for its contribution to the playing budget this year.

Ok thats good hes not stamping his feet and he seems realistic , i hadnt seen that piece and was commenting on the one mentioned at the start of the thread which no looks out of context.

Well lets hope we can have a budget somewhere near what we have this season. We will also have the academy and a stronger link with the reserve team which could offset a lowering of the budget.

So lets be positive. I am sure the WSU will try and get something going at danson this year and the club may be able to come up with a few events in the close season.

"Ive got to have the tools to do it"

I  read that as having the players to do it, although no doubt that comes down to money. I can't see anything wrong in what he's saying really. If there's 6 or 7 clubs next season with a bigger budget (and therefore better players) of course it won't be the tools to do the job - on paper. Looking at this season AFC Wimbledon and Chelmsford with their fan base, money etc were always going to be there. H & Y and Hampton have surprised me - I'm not sure what there budgets are compared to us or other teams.

Bearing in mind how Dover have thrown money at their cause this year I see no reason assuming all is equal that they wont be up there next year.

As said before bearing in mind the buckets were out not so long ago this smacks of kettle/pot etc
