Fordy said in one of the articles that he hopes to take 10 or 11 forward from this year, which I don't think's happened in the 5 or 6 years I've been watching Welling!
I think that 10 or 11 sounds right - good to have the basis of a team for next year. I would hope that in the present financail situation that players will be bitting his hand off for a contract. I understand that nobody is on a contract yet.
Ive seen some say oh i hope we can keep him or him... We have a proven Manager, we were up there most of the season. In many cases these players who we feel might think they are ready for the champions league were given a break by Fordy. I dont think there are many who should be thinking about trying to sod off in the close season. Sonny may be one of them but he stood by us and signed for us and had an interrupted season i would hope he will stay and kick on next year, depends where he wants to play on the pitch and where Andy wants him to. This is Jack's first season at this level and he has done well. I would hope he will stay. Infact i hope they all want to stay and Andy chooses who he thinks can push us on. We shouldnt feel we are that small club where players used to walk away. TRUST ME there are players at a higher level and this who want to play for Fordy at Welling United. Lets keep them all, lets get them signed up BEFORE they all go off to the costa del rumpy pumpy and lets kick some arse next year. Habving said all that if any of the players think they are Kaka or Ellis Green and want to hold Fordy at ransom... Just let them go and fill their place with someone who does want to have a crack next season for Welling.
