Kent Under 18s, managed by Ken Brooke who ran a Welling United side in the KYL for 3 years, have reached the final of the FA County Youth Cup.Their opponents are Birmingham and the match will be played will be played at Gillingham FC on Saturday, kick off 3pm.Admission is £3 for Adults and FREE for U16s and OAPs.
The side who have not been beaten in any competition this season have reached the final by beating Jersey (2-0), Dorset (4-0), Oxford(5-0), Durham (2-1) and the Isle Of Man (2-2 and 4-3 on pens) They are hoping to become the first Kent team to win this prestigious competition since its inception.
Ben Ronaldo Greenhalgh from the reserve side is included in the squad and I believe has a good chance of being included in the starting 11.The side is captained by Tom Parkinson who is Jacks younger brother. All of the players have played in the KYL and some have progressed and made first team appearances for Bromley, Dartford, Maidstone, Cray Wanderers.
I have watched this team all season and no matter what the outcome one thing you can be certain of is that they will play for each other and put in 100%.
If you want to see some of the best young Kent players outside of the academy and school of excellence schemes why not get down to Priestfield on Saturday - Im sure the lads would appreciate your support.
