Wings Boss Andy Ford has been quick off the mark in getting his squad ready for next season. Welling United can today confirm that a number of players have been offered new terms for the 09-10 season, whilst some have been invited back for pre-season and others have been released.

Full list here:

Blackburn surprising the others less so.

Lets hope there is news on the ones that have been offered deals. What we dont need is them dragging their feet and keeping Andy waiting.

Good piece James.

If they were all to sign, then on the shopping list is:

1 goalkeeper
1 left back
2 centre midfielders
2 strikers

I would certainly have offered Cobbs a deal and invited Blackburn and Mucu back for training.

Presumably, there are others already in mind. I thought there was due to be an announcement on a striker.

The one squad player not mentioned was Chapell who was on dual registration with Folkestone. I would have him back for training as well.

Only question mark remaining is Frankie Chappell who as far as I know was on dual registration with Folkestone since early February.  Continued dual registration, released or invited back pre-season?  Anyone know?

Really sorry to see Lee Blackburn go. I would have had Muku back for pre-season too.

Having said that, I have every faith in Andy and Jimmy's decisions.

I've just got back from holiday, and I'm absolutely staggered that Lee Blackburn has been released! I can't think of a good reason to not keep him on the books.

I am sure Andy will give some interviews when the players start coming and going. You really have to back the man to be right more than wrong.

If Baker and Bod sign for next season they get a new start. Like Ju.... sorry Baker this year they get the chance to prove their worth for Andy and prove his faith. If they fall below the required standard then they get told its not good enough.

:)

Too true mate.  I thought that he was one of our better players during the season. Good at set pieces and always there for us.  Maybe Fordy knows something that we dont hmm

Very surprised about Lee Blackburn, thought he was our best player last season.
I wonder who will be captain next year; my choice would be Sinclair with Andrews or Protheroe as vice-captain, especially seeing as Cobbs has only been asked back for pre-season.

From the Folkestone site

"Canterbury based Delo travels down to the Buzzlines Stadium with Frankie Chappell who is studying at University in the city. Delo has impressed in goal since joining from Ramsgate whilst Chappell's footballing talent is well known at Cheriton Road and the manager was justifiably pleased to have secured his services for next season."
