JGFC has been attacking Matt Bodkin with incorrect facts, opinions are ok but the rubbish JGFC comes out with deserves a response. A trait that JGFC perpetraits across other non league message boards. Lets start with his rants about how Adie saved his carreer. Yes Adie did offer him the chance to play football again but only on a Non-contract basis and he was getting £30.00 a game then, enough to pay petrol expenses, he was paid a bit more as time went on. Matt really enjoyed playing for Welling and often spoke to the supporters after the game in the bar. Matt wanted to sign a contract but one was never offered. Matt supplemented his income by working at the physios gym. At the start of the next season still no contract offer so he continued to play on a Non-contract basis, which he was still enjoying doing so. The only talk of Contract offers from Welling came when Grays offered him a 2 and a half year deal. Now dont forget non league footballers effrectively lose their job every year and hope to find another job for the new season and dont get paid in the close season, so I think Matt accepting the Grays offer was hardly suprising after all because Welling had not wanted him under a contract basis because probably it saved Welling Money. As for turning Welling down again, that never happened unless Grays turned it down without Matt knowing. As I said earlier opinions are fine but dont forget this is non league not Premiership but trying to blacken Matts name is totally out of order.
I will just say, Adies ressurected Bods career, he MAY have been on exes at the start, LOL you think he was on exes at the end? He also walked away for more money.
Good luck to Bod wherever he goes hopefully not back at PVR is all i can say.

Bod IMO you were a very decent player and just stating to look the real deal. I have no problem with you going for more money.
What i do have a problem is when players just go... and then WHEN IT SUITS THEM or THEY NEED US they then want to come back.
Yep you have the right to go where you want , but you have no right to then say ooh its gone a bit wanky and now i want to come back as i am not wanted elsewhere or i will have to drop down for £150 a week in the ryman.
You cant have your cake and eat it my little flower. Also Welling are currently blessed with some wideys with an end product some of whom are geniune cases to play at a higher level, the fact Dover released you and their fans in MOST CASES say they wouldnt have kept you is another reason that bring you back to PVR would be a bad move. Just as you didnt need us when you went to Grays, Welling dont need you.
You have put your side to the argument, all i will add is you were off like a shot and had no interest in signing for Welling. The bed has been made by you, lay down in it.
From the posts on here, there are some that would have you back, forgiving the fact that you want to come back when it suits you.. but i think more people would say no thanks. IF you came back you would get the support as that would be Andys choice but i am getting sick of the people just p1ssing off for more money then pledging undieing love for Welling as they want their 250 a week cos no one else will now pay it.

I am NOT Bod, just a good friend and by the way JGFC are you on the board at Welling or something?
Also this is not a ruse to get Matts name back in the frame at Welling as he is already "sorted" for next year and will be back to PVR as the opposition which I know will at least please you.
The only way I found out your incorrect statement of facts was that you were posting on the Dover Board and just had to visit the Welling Board for some more interesting facts from your good self.
Any way good luck for next year and by the way JGFC look on the bright side of life once in a while it may do you some good.
If they get a reprieve or Eastleigh or Bromley or where ever lol.Totally understand a players right to go elsewhere i just wouldnt have them back if theyve chose to leave us.
I believe Baker cost us a chance of the play offs when he went. It just seems the club lose out while the player does what he wants and why should we then take a player back thats walked out when it suits them?

I've seen players leave us and several come back - Abbo, Bartley, Robbins, Ellis, Baker. The days of players staying at a club like ours when there is more money on offer and a higher standard of football are long gone.
I personally don' have a problem with most players who have returned. If they did a job for us, went on ok terms and arrive back and still do a job then i've got no problem.
It just seems the club lose out while the player does what he wants - that's modern football isn't it?
and why should we then take a player back thats walked out when it suits them? - I don't think we would. I believe we would only take a player back if it suits US. I can't imagine Fordy taking Baker, or any other player back, unless it is for the best interests of the team.
Your passion for Welling is totally understandable but players come and go in non league football its a fact of life in the lower leagues. Clubs themselves dont loose any sleep over getting rid of players so just enjoy your teams that are assembled by what ever manager is in place at the time.
The thing that gets up my nose is when a player doesnt try to put the effort in, thats why the crowds love players that perform 110%. If they are not good enough thats not their fault but they should never fail through lack of effort.
Will be interesting to see what happens in the current financial climate. After those waving the wad have signed who they want, the financial power may well swing back to the clubs for the rest.
Bod was definitely good enough when he was at Welling he destroyed defences on a going day, thats why its all the more dificault to take when they go. I still wouldnt take them back.
Perhaps i am too loyal and have morals and feel if the players stayed we could build, as it is its lose a player, replace them and start again. Then the player wants to come back when ours is the best offer. Just seems like we get used.
For that reason. People like Sonny Cobbs (irrespective of if he goes this season), Jack Parkinson, Sanchez Ming, Hurrell and the others who all could go to a team in this league and some even higher..... Get my support and respect as they are being loyal and fair.
If Sonny goes he gets my support he could of sodded off last season but gave it a crack, and i would love to see him back at PVR in future if he goes. I hope he stays as he could be a Legend and be a huge part of our improvement.

Bod tends to get a good reception from the crowd whenever he returns to PVR so I guess many would welcome him back.
Sonny Cobbs must have been disappointed not to have been offered a deal for next season and bearing in mind where he lives I don't think that anyone could resent him not coming back.
Replica if Bod came back he would be Andys signing. And would have to start with a clean slate. But i would want him on a contract.
Loui i would be surprised if he went BUT i dont know where he lives etc. I think the one we want aswell as those 2 is Andrews? I
f we keep 2 of them then Andy has done fantastic and only has 5 or 6 faces to baring in and we have a lot of continuity in the team. I wonder if Andy will call Charlies bluff and go get a striker and hope a club take Charlie and have to pay a fee? Hes a wylie old fox.
I wonder if Ju.. Baker will accept the pre season offer and Cobbs, IF one of them said i will be there for pre season they are committing. Which is something that would at least pacify me with regard to Baker and shows he does want to play here and he will knuckle down.
Andy WILL bring in one or two quality players before next season, Whatever happens with regard to those who havent signed. We will have a decent team.
