Andy Ford has made his first new signing, and a good one at that!

Plus more friendlies.

I'm afraid the More signing could be a case of someone past his best. Another Phil Collins?

Past his best? Hes one of the best strikers outside the league. IF hes over his injuries he could be a sensational signing.

We will soon know.

Infact on what ive just read he was due an op to remove a tiny bit or cartelidge if theyve got the bugger. Then Andy has just signed a superb player.

Of course we need a striker to go with him and cant put all our eggs in the same basket. But if he is fit.

Jesus he will score loads. Great signing Andy, Get yourself fit Clarkey as you have to spank a few past Dover next season. :)

Lee Clarke also played in the midfield while at St Albans scoring a bagful of goals from there too.

I agree with JgFc that provided he is over the injury which impacted on his appearances and performance last season he could be a great signing.

Clarke Hoping to be ready for pre season after Surgery to clean up Cartelidge

Quite encouraging that. If its just a little clean up and hes fit..... There could be some fireworks. Wonder if we get Hockton aswell?

If we had a fit clarke and hockton and get a fee for Sheringham who is acting like he doesnt want to stay... We cant moan and probably come out in credit , ability wise on the transfers.

Something we havent done when losing class front men too often in the past., Boothy etc etc in the past

Let's not jump to conclusions. The guy is talking to other clubs, get over it.

Yeah to be fair most players are speaking to other clubs its just its been made public that Charlie is talking to Stortford. I for one would love him to be at PVR netx season. Charlie Complete what you started mate.

A big welcome to Lee Clarke he has the potential to be a big signing.

LOL lets ot jump the gun? If hes talking to others he didnt want to stay did he.

HES GONE but at least we get a fee. Which will add to the budget hopefully.

Can we all get loads of monopoly money and wave it at Charlie next season?

Further more Graham...

In my opinion IF they are talking to other clubs... They can F... Off and go there.

We only want players who want to play for the Club and Fordy.

Im quite happy hes gone if thats what he wanted and just praying Clarkey is fit and well, if he is weve done well out of it. A class striker and money for Sheringham when he wanted away.

All is ok here.

Just need Sincs to sign and one or two more and we have a cracking team and a lot of continuity.

All rosey at PVR well done Fordy.

Point taken JGFC,

so if someone talks to clubs you wouldn't want them? In my job I get 1 headhunter call every month of so, I probably entertain one of these per year. I've been in my job for 5 years now, and don't plan on leaving - in fact turned down jobs that pay a lot more money. One day, just one day a job may come up that pays more and isn't a 3 hour commute each day - and I would think seriously about that.

Does that mean my company should get rid of me?

Being a footballer is different to a normal nine to five.

As a footballer traveling comes with the territory. I believe Charlie has thought you know what Im not going to make it as a pro now so I will just enjoy my bit of football on the weekend and play for a team near me instead of chasing "the dream"and becoming a pro again. I dont think he wants it anymore.

I understand where you are coming from Graham but unless you are on regularly renewable contracts its not quite the same scenario - this is semi professional team sport and players are engaged on regularly renewable terms in addition to the job which is their main source of income.

My take on the matter is that any player who is clearly chasing the pound note has no loyalty to the club and has no right to expect supporters to remain loyal to them.

In my book any player who has completed the season and is offered new terms is quite free to move on but having been offered terms they obviously feature in our plans for continued improvement in the coming season. In these circumstances if they decide to leave the club for a team in the same Division (or lower), as some have, they deserve the same loyalty as they have shown the Club. Ideally I would not like to see them brought back when or if things don't work out for them, however, needs must on occasion and if they return they should not expect to be welcomed with open arms by the whole supporter base - they have to earn that loyalty. Personally I would not go to the lengths JgFc would with his suggestions of monopoly money but I would need convincing that they were committed to the side which is essential if as a club we are to be successful.

I have absolutely no problem with a player who does not take up the offer of new terms at the end of the season because they take up an offer with a higher Division Club - this is the progression of their ambition to play at the highest level they can and should they fail and if we need someone of their ability in their position I would be there with the blanket to catch them as they fall.
