Agree with that, I think players like Hockton will struggle to find clubs as clubs will not be held to ransom and pay over the odds like seasons gone by.

the bloke is an idiots - as Fordy has said he has had a lot of clubs and i wouldnt be surprised if he is at another another clubthis time next year - he is a waste of space as far as im concerned when Welling under Ford are going places and sheringham could build a reputation he leaves for more cash

I am going to be a bit controversial - but I will say it now he's gone - I didn't rate Charlie as highly as most others. I know he scored goals although a fair few where from the spot and tap ins on the line. For me the rest of his contribution was poor - winning a ball in the air was rare as was holding the ball up. If the ball was played up to him then chances were it would be coming back at us as he would lose it. I know you can't have everything at this level but if he was the main stiker then holding the ball up and winning some balls in the air would have come in useful.

I was shocked he won player of the year - put it down to people loving some-one who scores goals.

I think I agree Chelwing, great to have him scoring goals but he didn't make me think he'll go on to better things (as I did with Keds, Boothy etc).

That said, it's a shame he's gone but probably frees up some decent cash (I would assume he was one of the big earners) to get replacement(s) in.

I too think Fordy's style is great, I think the future's bright.

We are getting cash for what is rapidly becoming a journeyman striker. He is only 21 and you have to wonder if hes realised he hasnt got it in him to make it.

Time to move on. Lee Clarke for Sheringham and we could get a five figure fee and a sell on.

Whos come out best here? If Clarkey is fit we have and even if that doesnt come off we ave a few quid in the bank as compensation and could well act as the extra for the budget that the WSU stumped up last season.

We will only get compensated for training and development of the player (time and money spent) which surely wont amount to much as effectively he is moving sideways not forwards in his career indicating very little development whilst with us, and he was only here for a season. I think about 5k will be the outcome , a sum which Bishop's Stortford will easily surpass with the sell on clause for Steve Morrison who went to Millwall for 130k plus add ons. My conclusion, both teams have done OK out of it but I think charlie will outscore our new signing next season.

Billy Burgess would be a first class signing for the Club.   Andy Ford must put a deadline for existing players to sign by Midnight on Saturday, 16th May.   Billy would make a significant improvement to the central defence and would add some much needed steel to the back four.   I understand that Tony Sinclair has been touting about for a more lucrative contract and therefore we should not wait any longer for him to make up his mind especially now that Billy Burgess is available and we could lose out if we dither.
