So your "Welling till I die" but you are not sure about renewing your season ticket...??

There is a long time to go until the beginning of August. I trust AF to get it right and bring some decent players into the club before then.

We arent selling any of them. Fordy offered deals and a couple of them have p1ssed off for a few quid moving sideways.

Theyve proved they dont give a toss about the club so take it as a positive.

The only player we have sold recently as far as I can recall was Craig Braham-Barrett.

Sheringham and Sinclair were out of contract and decided not to take up the offer made by us and have moved on which however much it may disappoint is their right. We will get some compensation for Sheringham but we did not sell him.

As far as the principle of selling players goes for Clubs like us signing players with potential, developing them and losing them to other clubs hopefully for a fee is an fact of life not only in economic terms but also those of the players career.

If you are as your pseudonym Welling till I die suggests then the point about why should you renew your season ticket is surely a no brainer.

How many players with potential left at the club?

Of the 10 players signed so far in my opinion we have 3 under 24's who have not yet reached their full potential and all are regularly in the starting 11. We also have another young regular starter who in my opinion is unlikely to develop much further unless he learns to be a team player and can control his tantrums.

I don't know but I suspect that some of those Fordy wants to take a look at in pre season fixtures will fall into the category of young players with potential to develop.

There is always a balance which needs to be drawn between experienced and developing players and as things stand at the moment the balance ain't bad in my book.

Ming who I'm sure Bruno refers to above definatley has potential.

In my opinion without the attitude he has the 'potential' to be better than Braham-Barret who managed to secure a deal at Peterborough - albeit short lived - who were a promotion winning side this year. I firmly believe that Fordy will tighten his grip on Ming and make him into a better player.

At the end of the day a lot of players at our level play here because of these weaknesses. If they were perfect then they would be plying their trade in the football league.

Also we are forgetting that their could be gems in our youth system. We always used to produce a few good players back in the day.

Ben,  Clearly we were hoping to get Daisy back, we were also in for Quiche according to a SW London local rag.

I'm also pretty sure we were in for another ex wing.  As things stand at the moment it would appear he is going to stay put but I'm not sure that the deal is dead in the water just yet.  If I'm right Fordy obviously doesn't want it made public and we need to respect that so no bandying around of names please.  We will just have to be patient and wait for news of those joining the squad for the coming year.

As has been said in another thread we are in a comparatively healthy situation at this point of time in the closed season so lets not worry about who may or may not be coming and trust Fordy to make appropriate signings and tell us when he has.

Bruno lol, you mention 2 ex wings in name.... then a 3rd who has already been mentioned as staying at his club cant be named?

I can see what you are saying but all 3 of them have apparantly agreed terms with others or their current club. I personally dont think the Daisy thing is finished as from what i know, he has an agreement to go if a club comes in for him and a 7 day approach is all thats needed.

If the other one comes off, great player ONCE but that was long ago. I would probably rather Andy brought in outsiders now, have to be fair and not slag of the ex wings though as Andy may not have made formal approaches.

Fordy is doing just fine as he is.

JgFc, The 2 players I named are already very much in the public domain so there is little or no point in them remaining anonymous. The identity of the ex wing I am pretty sure Fordy has expressed more than a casual interest in has not been released into the public domain to the best of my knowledge (and I've been actively looking out for it) hence my not tossing his name into the ring and my comment above.

I have to say that I'm far more interested in finding out who has been invited for the pre season and to date I've drawn a total blank so the 8th July can't come quick enough.

Its pretty obvious that Jamie Day is the ex wing we are talking about, I have also heard he would leave Dartford if Welling came knocking so why dont we just get him

Can I just ask, why did Day leave in the first place?

I hope we get some good replacements for the players that have left. So far, 3 of my favourite players from last season have buggered off to lesser clubs :O

Cheers Bruno, I thought that was the case.

We've got a couple of months left, I think Fordy has a few cards he's keeping close to his chest for now.

Daisy would be good for us.  Great football brain and supplying the crosses to well known forwards that work hard.............  oops, forgot, Charlie, I can't hold the ball up and please don't give it to me on my chest, Sheringham .  Oh well, hopefully Stortford wont have too many wingers.  wink

If Daisy is coming back, I can not see why it has not been done and I do wonder if it is a desperation signing if it happens surley he has had his best days and I dont think we would be able to match the wages Dartford are paying.

If we get Ryman league footballers we will find ourselves playing at that level, so come on lets get proven players from this division or above

I dont think he can be classed as a Ryman League player ... yes, he plays at the level at the moment, but has plenty of experience at Conf South, and even some at Conf National, level. Yes, Daisy will be on good money, but set-pieces at this level count for a lot, and his good delivery will be worth its weight in gold if we can get a 6'2" centre half or forward.

Please stop talking about us signing Day. If Dartford want him he'll stay there. Simple as that.

I think With Quinn joining the acadamy thats the end of Daisy coming back. think he would have only come back if he got a job with the academy too.

possibly, although if Charlton have a clearout its not unthinkable he could get work back there again.

The only way they will have a clearout in that section is jobs going, which, given their current situation, is possible.

Do we sign our best young players on long term contracts i.e two year deals?

Nah at most it would be a one year deal. However I'm sure many players are reluctant to sign contracts when playing at this level as it ties them to that club restricting them from moving for more money, full time football or whatever.

I would prefer our best young players were on two or three year contracts with transfer clauses inserted into the contracts.

The likes of Ming,Parky,Johnson have they only signed one year deals?

What you would prefer and what the players are prepared to sign, are often very different things Im afraid.

Also, bare in mind, we sign a player on a 2year deal and he then breaks his leg for example and we're buggered.

Having good players on a contract at all is a bonus at this level, most are non-contract and we can lose them with 7days notice. Lets just be happy we have most of last years lot kept on board shall we.

Oh you do have a point  but then again we can forget about the days when a player stays here for a long time and I personally think one year is too short for a player aged 17-25 .

Why? If they are under 24 and get tapped up theres no need to have them on 2 year deals as we will get a fee for them.

If Ming, Parky etc get tapped up end of this season we will get fees for them.

Agree with Jgfc if these players get tapped up at end of season the club would benefit financially. However would it not be better to hang on to their talents for an extra season and get the benefit on the pitch?

So Fordy will never get the chance to develop a player properly.

Just the way it is Im afraid - and its the same at 99% non-league clubs.
