Tonight was certainly the worst of the psf performances thus far.
I agree that there is more to psf's than results but the worrying thing about both the VCD and Dartford games is our difficulty in dealing with physical teams. We showed what we can do in the Charlton and Gilllingham games because neither side relied upon the physical side of things.
We desperately need an injection of steel into the midfield.

Yeah it was poor. But this is the first game where the team we have played has played at league game tempo. I think we will improve for this game and Im pleased we have got such a quick turn around to put things right.
Funny how we all have different perspectives on the game. I thought we played a good passing game, with some neat and tidy stuff and some degree of intelligence and skill.
I think we were thrown a mite when James was stretchered off and it took a long while to match a very physical Dartford side. It seems to me that Dartford has always favoured tall, robust, players - even going back to the days when Alf Ackerman was manager. This side was no exception - built like the proverbial brick outhouses almost every one of them!
We are a slight, generally short side, and I think we are going to come unstuck against teams like Dartford - especially on heavy pitches not as good as those at Park View Road and Princes Park. And there are a lot of robust teams in the Conference South.

Pretty, pretty passing game but always one pass too many and always looking for the perfect goal (Arsenal of the BSS). The one time we passed it with pace and had a direct shot on goal we scored.
We have lots of pace and lots of style and will be attractive to watch but we badly lack substance - a couple of big, nasty players is what is required imo.
Best wishes to James Lawson - looked a nasty one and he was clearly in pain. if it is only weeks and not months then that is a big relief to club and player.
I don't think I am over-reacting, Mark. Wings played a good passing game last night. But we are not generally a tall, robust side and we were undone by a side that had those qualities by the bucketload. The Gillingham and Charlton games, as Andy admits, were not the true tests of the Wings' qualities. Dartford was. Let's see if things improve against Tonbridge.

So we lose a game against a team below us and everyone gets heated
As Tom O'Connor used to say "Say what you see" and that is all that has been said above. Nobody has got heated calling for the head of Fordy or any of the players, they have merely commented on what they saw and in my case what I have seen in the psf's we have played thus far.
I would strongly suspect that Fordy himself was none too happy with last nights performance, particularly the first half.

Agree substantially with what you have said Wingnut, where we differ is that I'm not sure that it is a matter of one pass too many looking for the perfect goal.

Although we lost and lets face it we all feel disappointed, the fact remains that it was a pre-season friendly. A chance to look at what strengths & weaknesses that the team has at the moment. I wasn't at the game but reading the posts above it would suggest that we may have been out muscled and we kept the ball too long. Now if we saw that, then I'm sure Mr Ford saw it also, which means that he now has something to address before Aug 8th. Disappointments happen in life but as long as there is some learning to be got then it can be used as a positive. But hey what do I know?
You're easily pleased. Conference South has been there for the taking for the last few years, regardless of the cash being thrown at it in certain quarters.

So has the Conference Premier, but you still got relegated.
