Wish I had stayed home and washed the car

Maybe we should sign some more players released by Weston-Super-Mare, Bishop's Stortford & St. Albans.

few players missing today faz laws RJ to name a few but no excuse, we seemed to want to hoof it up to finny up front all the time, there was some square pegs in round holes to fill in today, a centreback up front for the first 25, grass was very long and probably caused the switch to long ball, hobbs looked good again and took his goal very well, the boy is a natural finisher, all in all not very impressed with today, all credit to dulwich though, looked a handy side and could do this year.

over and out

We cant hide from the fact that it was poor but Im sure Fordy will have seen alot to work on. For me We need a central defender because Parkinson wouyld be better in the middle. Hobbs is a must as Annoymous said he is a natural finisher and can cross a lovely ball.

At the end of the day we will get inuries throughout the season and may have to put out a side like the one today.

It's clear to see we ned a quality central defender & midfielder.

Jason Mason, Cracknell, Abraham would be good back up squad players but if they're the best we can do for firt choice then it's going to be a long season.

No I completely disagree about it being a long season if they are in the squad as they are not bad players. However I do believe that with the squad as it current stands I do feel we will fall just short of the play offs, a central defender and midfielder and that my opinion could change.

If these players are in the squad we're in for a good season. If these players are first team regulars we're in for a long season.

These players were missing

Knight, Sambrook, Lawson, RJ, Ronaldo and Faz

That is 5 definite first teamers and one potential first teamer.

Another point the grass was about 5 inches long so it made it impossible to play football so we resorted to long ball which is not Fordy's way. It was poor but we WILL not play any thing like that against Woking win, lose or draw.

To think we let Blackburn and Cobbs go, the central midfield has it all to prove for me. Would love to have seen Daisy back, shame to see him playing at a lower level. Booth also up front though he might have been a bit expensive.  We need an extra centre half too where's Rob Gilman!

Surely even keeping McEntaggert would have freed up Jack for midfield?

I am sure Andy knows he needs a midfielder and center half. there will be many players released from trials even at Premier level over the next few days.

Well if we wanted Daisy back I am sure he would have come back, but think its a bit late for that to happen now, the team he is with now looked geared up to having a good season and then he will be playing at this level next season

Just because you continually choose to follow the party line it doesn't mean the rest of us are not allowed to express our concerns. Yes it's early but am yet to be convinced we've effectively replaced what we've lost or chose to give up with particular reference to central midfield and a further body at centre half. That's not living in the past it's wanting the best for the team.

Spitey is right. The players brought in are both inferior in both pedigree and performance to those that have left.

We will come lower than last season's 7th.

i agree with jgfc - i havent even read all the posts on here but can we please not turn into a load of charlton fans?! i was at their barnet game on sat and they were totally outplated but it wasnt anywhere near their first first team and there were chants of "parkinson out" - its pathetic - can we please get behind the best manager we've had for years(not including pennock who did very well but was an unknown talent)

' i was at their barnet game on sat and they were totally outplated '

Sorry J, couldn't resist that one - no wonder they lost  wink

I agree with you though, it's early days yet and we need to get behind Fordy etc, let the side settle and develope into the best we have had in years.

Charltons team is bad though, they will certainly struggle in league one, so I dont blame them for calling for his head!

One thing I disagree on is that everyone says friendlies mean nothing, but that is bollox if you want to have a good start to the season then you need to start finding your rhythm and building up some momentum to take into the first games. Losing doesn't build confidence, winning does.

The odd loss however is fine but if you lost most of your pre season games then thats not a good footing to build from. Luckily we have had two good results so I wouldn't panic, we just need to bolster our squad in the areas everyone has mentioned midfield and defence.

No point talking about Daisy , probably came down to money and he made his choice. I certainly wouldnt think Dartford will get up this year, theyve been abject shyte for 20 years, why will it change this season.

Fordy knows we need a center half and a midfielder at least. As i said before... other clubs will be offloading trialists DONT PANIC.

Fordy usually comes good and will do his best. Dont get on the players backs yet.

Ok he let Cobbs go and Blackburn, but Sinclair p1ssed off and so did Sheringham.

I agree with Spitey that we are all entitled to express our concerns at the current strength of the team although it may upset certain people in some quarters.

It is generally agreed that the team lacks an experienced centre half and at least one experienced midfielder.   These are vital positions and form the spine of team and, ideally, must be filled before our first league game against Woking in 12 days.

Andy Ford accepts that the team "are a little bit weaker than last season" due to insufficient funding.   Mr. Ford must realise that there are many teams in the same situation and this is the "real world" as we are all aware of the "Credit Crunch".

I trust that Andy will use his remaining funds prudently to reinforce both the centre of the defence and the centre of midfield.

With reference to the previous posting, refer to Andy Ford's interview with Kent On Line today in which he accepts the fact that the team "are a little bit weaker than last season" because of being £500 - £700 lighter than last season.

The whole tone of the logic of this argument suggests that you expect them to be weaker financially but not on the pitch. This implies that Ford will be less adept at managing that reduction than others in the League (and we have all lost Setanta money).

Given his track record and experience I don't believe that will be the case. Whether that will be sufficient to usurp Woking and Dover or the likes of H&R or Eastleigh, I suspect not (unless H&R are building a stand).  If he gets the most out of what we can afford, that will suffice for me.

Can I just say that it scares me to read that some people are agreeing with Spitey, I've sat with him for over ten years now and he's never right.
