"Ford apologised to the Welling fans for his team's abject display" "I was embarrassed for the supporters. I told the players that I'm creeping out of here with my head down."
Well done Andy Ford he could have so easily hid behind the "we have got so many injuries" excuse but he didn't he came out and said it how he was. The Clarke comment is a classic!! It is so true the lad clearly has something in his locker it is whether he wants to work that little bit harder and get himself fit. Bath away still feels a bit daunting though!
Was not there but that is classic about Lee Clarke - my missus has more movement then him, i remember mentioning this to a certain supporters team manager at a friendly, come on wingsbig game on sat now!
Good one Fordy, nice to see the manager is up for it even if some of the players aren't. He obviously believes in the players he has but they just need to repay his faith now. Some tough games coming up and a good chance for the team to buck their ideas up. We don't want to be playing the frenchies having lost all of our games!
Perhaps they needed a massive bollocking. I suppose Andy is seeing how they go vs Bath and if certain players are crap again they will be gone.
Hes quite funny Andy when he wants to be. If he was gonna kill someone, the squad would be a man short and the Manager would be on remand. Thats the last thing we need at this stage of a season.

I have some sympathy for Clarke. Andy knew his fitness could be an issue when he signed him, and I guess his situation is being highlighted by the injury to James Lawson.
I guess that Andy's probably thinking that we should all be seeing better progress from him now!
The only slight thing that worries me is that in our past history anytime we have started poorly we have gone on to struggle, although I still feel this squad is half decent and is better than the squads that have struggled.
Hobbs will start v Bath. That is good news. Hopefully Hurrell will as well.
Too true. When the two of them were on the field, they caused Thurrock no end of problems. The same can be said of Rob Hughes. His one touches and passes were great to see. As Spills and others behind the goal said - ' Why try going route one?' The long ball was always trying to be played to Louis. All credit to the fella, but he isn't exactly 6 foot plus. Play the ball on the ground. Basics, hold the ball, look, pass - simples.
Well at least the manager knows it was a load of crap. He was spot on about Parkinson and King. They were scared of the massive bloke up front for Thurrock. Our captain looked about 45 rather than 35. He was chasing shadows for most of the match. And without a target man up front we struggled with the midgets getting nowhere. And I am not sure why some people on this forum are getting on Michael Deane's back. I thought he played alright and his crosses were a lot better than most of the others. Our big problem is the defence. We need a proper centre back like Mooro. I think this will be a long hard season and we will be nearer the bottom than the top of the division.
Because you express an opinion that the team has weaknesses, it does not mean you're not supporting them. There's no doubt there are problems in defence at the moment. Parkinson's best position is not as a central defender. Let's hope the loan signing, when he arrives, and a fit-again Graeme Andrews are able to steady the ship. I agree that Hobbs, Hurrell and Hughes all looked impressive when they came on on Tuesday.
We're deep in the ****. We can write August off, our fight for surival starts from September.
If you are prepared to write August off (which has 5 matches left in it) I'll look forward to you not being two faced and complaining if\when the players have....
We're deep in the ****. We can write August off, our fight for surival starts from September.
I can't comprehend anyone taking the line we can write off August after 2 games and even thinking about a survival fight at this stage beggars belief.
The performance against Woking wasn't the best I've seen but Woking weren't much better and but for some poor refereeing we would have got a point.
I wasn't at Thurrock but everyone I've spoken to said that it was a poor performance but all teams will suffer that at least once every season, even Welling.

If you dont want to support the side then **** off
Mark, to take such an abusive line to supporters who dare to actually comment on obvious weaknesses is an insult. Supporters are not pre-programmed automatons incapable of evaluating what they see on the pitch and have every right to comment on both the positives and the negatives. Whilst you may or may not agree with what is said there is absolutely no justification for suggesting that posters do not support the team and should ****off.
Is Fordy, who apologised to supporters for the abject performance on Tuesday night, the only one capable of evaluating and stating that it was an abject performance? I think not.
In pre season and the games to date we have shown that at the moment we have a problem with the more physical sides and that there is much to be done on our performance in the final third. I'm sure Fordy is aware of both of these factors and is/will be doing what he can to address them. At this point in time with our casualty list this is no doubt hampered and I don't envy him the task. Is this evaluation heresy?

To the untrained eye it may appear that we are struggling. But to us that know about the scientifics of the game will easily tell you that it's all going to plan and there is absolutly nothing to worry about. Roll on tomorrow and the three points.
The anon doom and gloom merchant is forgetting we have Fordy in charge who has had success. We are not relying on Neil Smith or Paul parker to turn it around. We have someone who can actually and will actually sort it.
If it was 7 or 8 games fair enough but weve lost 2 games by 1 goal ffs and Andy said we are a bit behind.

agreed to all of the above, my only comment would be why are these issues coming to light AFTER pre-season and not DURING pre-season. Every league point counts.
Mark, Perhaps if you actually said what you meant people would see where you were coming from.
Crass comments about writing the whole of August off and talk of survival after 2 games frustrate many of us but is it not better to state the opposing view with just a few lines explaining it than to tell people to **** off?
40 games to go and 120 points still up for grabs that is my view. One buzzard doesn't make for the destruction of the human race.
