Andy is right to acknowledge that it is the time for him to prove his worth. However to say the following....... "He explained: All of the players who are out injured are vital ones to us and would definitely start if they were available". This could have a negative effect on those who are playing as they may think "what's the point of trying if my place is just tempory"? It wouldn't be my way of motivating those who are fit.
we are on a bad run, confidence is low and we have had some tough games of late which wont be helped by the visit of newport on saturday
but im confident it will be turned around and in a couple of months when we are on a decent run we will look back on this and wonder why we got so worked up - this same thing happened last year for example around the time of the fa cup exit and you always have bad runs in the league and our injury crisis and poor run has started early so we're just getting it out of the way
Trig - If they try there hardest / play to there best ability, to make it hard for the manager not to pick them, when players are available after injury. If you have been injured and a team mate players well in your position, then that (previously injured) player got to patient, if he believes in he's own abilities.

We have a pretty good idea what a squad including the currently injured players is capable of which is better than than our current form suggests and I'm sure this will be reflected in results as the injured players return. Hopefully most will return before 26 September when we commence our FA Cup campaign. As J says all sides have bad runs and this is ours.

Hello BOOM BOOM BALLY, I have shown your post to my nurse who says that in her opinion you make two good points. 1. Make it hard for the manager not to pick them. 2. Players should believe in their own abilities. Although it looks obvious to me and others that the injured players will come straight back into the first eleven when fit, I don't feel it is the correct managerial ettiquette to come out and say it. Possibly what could be said is that due to the large number of injuries it gives oppotunities to others to .....then mention your two very good points.
But hey what do I know, locked up here in my padded cell.

I've just seen a "flock" of pigs flying past my window
Can I just remind people that the injured players were playing at the beginning of the season and we still lost - anyone remember Thurrock?
a few were already injured and the problem is with players coming and going there is no consistant 11 playing and with a bad run of form confidence is low so it all adds up to us playing sh*t
wasnt it the game straight after whyteleaf where we beat stortford with a fluke goal that got us out of the bad run last year? all we need is to get a win against a decent newport side on saturday and that could turn our bad start around (and before there are any negative comments on that - look at villa who beat liverpool when everyone expected them to get battered-albeit with a bit of luck- and now they look like they will push on in the league

Andrews and Finn were non starters at Thurrock and Faz was injured in the 1st half. Steve King had been injured badly enough to be taken off just after half time 3 days before too.
The crucial thing is to get a settled side. Last season we managed to get a constant starting 11 for the first 4 games and picked up 10 points. Once that spell was broken and there were changes we only picked up 12 points in the following 10 games and we also got knocked out of the FA Cup. Despite this spell and a 4 game spell in Jan/Feb where we only picked up 2 points we still managed to finish 7th.
I too am still confident and believe that we can reach the playoffs this season.

I agree its a bit early to write the season off but our points haul so far is extremely poor. Of course it will all be forgotten if we shape up and actually achieve some league success this year. On the other hand until a change in our fortunes occurs you can hardly blame people for being pessimistic. Is it me or do injuries in football in general seem to be more widespread than years gone by? I can't remember clubs struggling so much with long term injuries in the past and when I first watched Welling in the late 80's we didn't seem to lose half our squad before August was out.
I may get slated now but here goes......I think that players attitudes are very different from a few years back....a slight niggle and they are out ...before the fact was they WANTED to play and had to be physically stopped by the manager if unfit
I am afraid that with the money that is on offer nowadays they see themselves as BIG players in disguise!!!
Obviously not ALL as Charlie Mitten showed on saturday....he could have said NOPE!!!! not interested...he played through pai as he knew lobbing a kid into goal would not have helped the cause!!
I dont agree with all you postings but I think there is certainly an element of truth in what you say. It goesvery much along the lines of the revolving door at the end of the season and loyalty to the club.
Take Mr Sheringham, player of the season, the chance to grow and then offski!
