As I've started a new job recently I've had to work pretty much every saturday. But I'm off tomorrow and what with the wife being at work I have a great opportunity to see my favourite team in the whole world playing Newport at home. Good times! However, this time none of my mates who I usually bring along can come with me. I'm considering going on my own which is something I've never done before. Which begs the question......
Is it a bit sad to go and watch Welling United on your own?!
It's a bit like going to the cinema on your own aint it? I really do want to go tomorrow. Someone tell me if I'm doing the right thing!!!!!
I dont think its sad to go on your own. When I first turned up at PVR 7 years ago I went with my (then) 13 year old son. He decided playing was his scene rather that spectating so he stopped going with me. Ever since then I have tended to go it alone. I always sit in the same section and therefore am usually with the same people so have got to know them over the past few years. I have always found the Welling fans a friendly bunch and I for one have no problems with going on my own. Thanks to packing up work I have now even managed to start going to some away games. Can't make maiden aunt as will be in Wales but am looking forward to Dorchester.
wouldnt worry - i go along with my brother or a mate most weeks but there are plenty of times when i go along by myself when they cant make it
ill usually even have a beer on my tod and read the program or watch the scores come in - no shame in it and if it's a choice between watching us play by myself or not watch them at all ill go by myself every time
(plus you see loads of people on the terraces by themselves anyway)
Ben if you want to go on your own go, i started going with my son, however as he lives in Wiltshire its hard for him to make evey game, & with starting uni in 3wks, so ive started to go home & away on my own, i find that behind the goal there is a small group who are a friendly bunch, & with Matt at the helm are very entertaining to listen to ........so il be there on saturday, with my son, but tuesday on my jake jones You never know you may miss the start of Wellings turn in form ........
What with Me Being A Lady an all, and Going On My Own. I Found the swearing quite difficult at first to master but now i know why the ref wears black! something to do with playing on his own and now its just natural ability when i see the pitch to have a bout of tourrettes, On A serious note the other reason I go, is Not Just To See the MIGHTY WINGS but Because people pay me! so if you see me tomo give me a pound for a Scratch Card or i just may practice my new found skills upon you !!!

At least you have a choice. I on the other hand get bundled into the back of an old van with my nurse who then sits me down in my special chair (padded with arm and leg restraints) when at the ground. Then she buggers off and leaves me on my own, things are great but then Spitey turns up and starts talking to me (what a downer) and I can't escape. One question I have to ask is "did your friends say they couldn't make it after you informed them that you could"?

Are you saying that you're the scratch card girl who won't let me through unless I part with my cash?

have to say i had a massive bout of tourrettes last week after that "hand of god" decison!!
and if i see you you ill buy another scratchcard - those things are addictive though!
Back When They were skint, playing in the old 3rd division second from bottom i used to go n watch my other team FULHAM and at times was litterally on my own. I will probably get some stick for putting the "F" word on here, But we all have our crosses to bear. Going on your own aint too bad but dont try starting a mexican wave it just dont work you have to run around the ground with your hands in the air looking like the kid on home alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you see her you'll buy another scratchcard! When I'm bundled through the turnstiles some crazed girl traps me between herself and the gentleman selling the programmes, I have no choice but dig deep. And no, I'm not scared of her (mind you her eyes turn red when I start thinking of saying "no thank you"). I'm happy to buy a ticket, honest I'm not scared.
Mind made up......I'm going! I suppose my admission fee, plus price of the programme, pint, burger, (a new home shirt if they ever bloody arrive!) and a scratchcard off Patsy would be better off in the coffers of Welling United/WSU than in my back pocket. And thanks to all those who've encouraged me to go!
As Eric Cartman would say....."I love you guys"!!!

It's funny but when i go through the turnstile, my first thought is buying a match programme, then i think about getting just one scratchcard, but i always end up buying 5 :O Probably the only one that does. Hope you sold all those scratchcards today Patsy :)
No Trig, I had a crap time at PVR, as you would imagine after yesterday's performance! I stood on me Jack Jones and despaired time after time at wasted chances. Glad I bought a programme to destract me!
Well if you find yourself on your own again come over to the main stand, just in front of the Royal Box, where the leather seats are and join me in a few glasses of Chablis.
