Funny how he was playing for us and knew the money situation - then all of a sudden he can't play for that amount of money anymore.
Mentioning no clubs, and being totally fictitious, he may have had a call or a brief chat with another club and someone could have easily said 'we could pay you double that' or 'we could offer you a contract on x pounds - x amount more than Welling'
I suppose nothing wrong with that if you're talking about non contract players. This happens with contracted players as well though. Not just the clubs either. Nothing stops a Welling player (again a fictitious one) saying to another player, manager or coach 'i can't wait to get away from here and would love to come back'.
(I always though the phrase tapping up was a figure of speech to represent a shady tap on the shoulder and whisper in the ear type of scenario?)
