The annoying Dover "fans" in the other thread are right - we didn't miss chances today - the penalty was our first shot, if you can call it that, on target. Having said that we were the best side until the first goal, even if we never looked like scoring.

I have seen Dover twice now and have not been impressed - no where near as good as Newport, but they take their chances - we don't even create chances. Some of our players are far too lightweight - easily brushed off the ball and if they do get a chance to deliever they fail. If they did get a chance to deliver does anybody believe we have the players to finish.

Earlier in the season we moaned about the players being injured - well they are mostly back now and we are still poor. And please don't tell me that Louis is the answer.

I don't think the defense is **** I thought that they all had good games - poor for the first goal but King was MOM for me - and the impersenator of Michael Dean was quality.

Good article Chelwing yes we did  play well in the first half but failed to test their keeper all game i doubt wether he will have an easier 90 mins all season. I dont like critising the team but this was no improvement on earlier in the season when at least we created chances and looked like scoring. It was a shame because our support yesterday was excellent.

The result was disappointing but I felt there were some positives in the performance.
Mitten gave his usual consistent performance with no errors.  King and Andrews were again Welling's best outfield players and I hope their partnership is not disturbed next week if Mambo returns to the club.  Both Protheroe and Bakare performed well and I felt the only defensive lapse in the game was leaving the tall Dover defender unmarked to score the first goal.  Only the players and the manager know who was at fault for this.  The second goal was an excellent move that could not be blamed on poor defending.
I felt that again our problems lie in the midfield.  Johnson, Blackburn and Cracknell, when he returns from injury, are the engine room and ball winners of the team and usually do this adequately.  What must be a puzzle to Andy is that the creative midfielders, Parkinson, Finn and Hurrell, who have all shown in the past that they have talent, at the moment seem to be incapable of making chances for themselves or of providing good enough service to the strikers to set up the chances they need.  While none of the strikers has so far shown that they have the ability to become prolific scorers in the manner of the likes of Kedwell or Sheringham, I feel that given the right service they would score enough goals to lift us up the table.
It is a shame, if predictable that one ot two "Ford Out" posts are appearing again.  Unless Adie Pennock (in my view Welling's best ever manager) decides to abandon Stoke City and return to the Wings, I think it's very unlikely that anyone can do a better job than Andy with the resources available.
I believe his big challenge at the moment is to get the creative midfielders, including Fazackerley if he returns when fit, to create the chances they should be capable of making.
