Thought Id weigh into the debate on progress thus far, and I wouldnt judge on one performance, Dover are a good side after all and everyone has good/bad games...
We arent as strong last year as a result of the budget, and in my opinion the league as a whole is stronger this year. Newport look like they are finally living up to expectations, and with Dover and the other moneybags teams I think most Wings fans were expecting mid-table, and this is still easily achieveable.
We got off to a bad start, and this was mainly down to injuries, but it strikes me now that most of them are back, that we are making too many changes for changes sake, and that perhaps Fordy is unsure of his best XI ??
We looked the better, more solid, side in the first half as many have mentioned, but this went to pieces in the second half, and it was partly due to changes in formation and personnel ... not because we made a straight swap for example, but because people like Finn and Hurrell are constantly being moved around during the game. Hurrell by my reckoning has played thus far at left-back, left-wingback, left-mid, right-mid, centre-mid and upfront. Add this to the fact he has had different personnel next to him, and has started games, and come on from the bench, is it any wonder he isnt playing like we know he can ?? This is only one example of many.
Simple common sense ... left footers on the left, right on the right, forwards up front, wingers on the wing and a bit of heart, passion, and luck !! Then we will be fine.
So please, King, Andrews and Mitten, excellent at this level ... now all fit if playing week in week out will bond and be good more often than not ... fullbacks, Bakare looked good until he was removed when chasing the game ... need a rightback for me though, Sambrook and Proths are both fading lights now ... Hobbs is a forward, use him as one, Finn wont pass, tell him too or f**k him off like he does to everyone else, he strikes me as an expensive Ming at the moment, and other ... I could go on and on but ...
Lets be positive, we all want the Wings to do well, and there were seeds their yesterday that things are moving the way we would like.
