Handford and Abbo might work or Dobbler and Abbo but one would need to be Manager none of this joint rubbish.

I wouldnt have Ruthers as hes walked out before to Chelmsford after his benefit game. We need someone who will not walk out, someone who has contacts, is a strong character and has had some success Managing or as Assistant. Someone who isnt hoof ball orientated, someone who can get out of their contract if they are at a club.

this is the problem we have so we have to hope for someone with a big contact book and an eye for a decent up and coming player who we can get on the cheap

At the risk of raking over old coals I can't let the Ruthers comment go without reiterating that I don't agree with it. Would like to hear his side of the story and more importantly he played for this Club for ten years during which time he was one of its finest servants and in my opinion displayed commendable loyalty during this period.

As for the managership I shouldn't think he's a contender anyway as he seems to be more comfortable as a number two.

..and I thought you were going to have a pop re. Ruthers!

Dack sounds good though didn't set the world alight at Sutton. Can be a difference between a no. 2 and no. 1 buck stops with you. Can't fault his enthusiasm though!

Spitey ive always said ruthers was superb as a player in his first spell. He told me to my face the night of his benefit he would never leave and loved the club and was greatful for the support in his benefit year. then weeks later he sodded off to chelmsford.

I will never put him down as a player in his first spell and christ how we need a ruthers in the middle now.

I just cant stomache people sh1tting on us.

An interesting tale which come to think of it I think I've heard before from you. Perhaps Parker made him offer he couldn't refuse. Seem to remember we were at a low ebb at the time (end of Reynolds reign?). I tend to be a bit more forgiving when I can which is strange because I often cop the right hump too. Ultimately my memories won't be dimmed especially as he told me he'd always look out for our results!

A few more names to put in the frame: Joe Francis, Roberts (from Cambridge City), Jim Ward (Ramsgate), Mark Hone?  But Dereck Brown or Gary Abbott must be in the running. The non-league show reckons the club will get about 20 applicants within 24 hours!

I dont want any ex Welling players taking charge. I want an experienced non league manager to come in and sort us out.

Jim Ward, Terry Yorath, George Borg even Alan Kimble possibly although he may be better as a number 2. I will support Protheroe as a caretaker manager but if he gets the top job I will be majorly pissed.

Not sure if it would work personally but the Dolby/Rutherford combo has to be a major contender - just look where they have got Hastings to so far this season.

Dolby left them once citing travelling as being the major problem before being tempted back. Assuming he is still based fairly locally to us and with some experience behind him, they must be in with a major shout if, of course, they are interested in taking over......

How about former Fisher and Grays manager, Wayne Burnett?   He was very good at spotting players with potential.

Hayden Bird ex Carlshalton Atheltic who came within a whisker of getting them promoted to Connie South has just left them, he could be worth a crack.
