Just back from game and I have to say we were extremely lucky to get the point. First was an own goal and the second was deflected straight to Tommy who basically had a open goal. I don't want to put a downer on things but I was more pleased with the Chelmsford performance then this.
Stone, Deane and Finn had shockers and really need to buck up or ship out. King went off in the final minutes (hopefully not long term) and Fazza looked relatively good but is just lacking the last bit of fitness.
We had the luck with us today and we have deserved some over the past couple of months but if we play like this every week, WE ARE DOWN. Lets hope the boys can sort it out and get the win in the 6 pointer on saturday.
Well chuffed with a point it wasn't deserved on the 2nd half performance but it was deserved because of the awful decisions and luck we have had in the last few weeks.
With a new manager coming in for Saturday (hopefully) last night was a massive point and can give us a spring board to better things.

Have to agree Bee Cee...Whitnell statistics suggest he should start at the weekend. Still mystified how he was kept on the bench at Dover and we are 2-0 down and Ford puts on a full back!!! Short of the full-back being Roberto Carlos that was never going to get us a goal.... Whitnell has scored 5 goals and has had four starts and has been on the bench five times. May not have the phsyique of an old style centre forward but his record is good. As for JGFC's assertion that he is lazy I do not buy that having seen him play four times this season. Perhaps - a bit like Berbatov - he looks languid ....but he is certainly not lazy,
"the ball deflected straight to Tommy who basically had an on goal......."
Which should read " the ball ricochet at some speed to Tommy who killed it with his first touch and tucked it past the on rushing keeper into the corner with his second" An excellent finish which luckily fell to the one bloke in the squad who actually knows where the goal is.
I was more than happy with a point which was a robbery on our part. First half we showed a few good things but second half we didn't cross the halfway line more than twice. Conceded set piece after set piece (which eventually resulted in the obligatory free header) and hardly won a tackle for 45 minutes. Too weak and too lightweight all over the pitch.
A very good result but not a good performance in any shape or form. The "lucky" man who gets the nod still has a massive job on his hands.

Bring on Lewes and let him do his stuff!
It wasnt an assertation it was a comment from comments posted on here . When he was first dropped , people on here said he was lazy. After all when he put 4 goals away in quick succession and then gets dropped, i thought it was because people thought he was lazy.
If not whoever dropped him is on drugs.
Gary Abbott used to walk about, go missing but the man had a knack of being there , having purple patches and scoring sackloads.
Whitnell is a goalscorer, play him. Judge him after months not minutes.
Joe, i rate him, i said sign him LAST SEASON. I was surprised they dropped him. I say play him every game from the start. He is the one player scoring
Steff and Adrian couldnt score in the preverbial and you would think that neither will be here when the new guy comes in.

Fair reply JGFC... if anything the goal he scored against Havant sounds much like the one he scored earlier this season against East Thurrock....ball deflected to him in the box and he killed it with one touch and placed it past keeper with the other. Still cannot believe he did not get a single minute against Dover...especially when the front two clearly began to flag after 55 minutes. If the Welling fans could see that then why not Mr Ford? And quite right JGFC ...he must be judged over the next three months and not by giving him 10 minutes at the end of games. Any striker lives and breathes on confidence ...and after he has scored goals early in his Welling career to get dropped must be a kick in the teeth. And he is non contract .....so if he becomes disillusioned he may well vote with his feet and take himself off somewhere else?
my comments for monday, why did cracknell start up front he done nothing . fazza did nothing, play finn on right on a regular basis. dean had a nightmare. strikers cant score without service, well done tommy you took your chance well. i know me onions thats your shallot
