I would like to think that he would as it is a massive game Saturday although you cant rush these things I suppose. It would even be nice for the new manager to be there but Proths still be in charge for the game. Of the names listed from KM site.
I'd be happy with all of them. Alan Kimble or Martin Hayes my preference though

How extraordinary - we are given the names of three of the shortlisted candidates via, I should think, well-informed speculation as Matt Panting is very close to the club. Also we are told that poor old Gary Abbot has probably been blown out - but no speculation about the other three candidates. I wonder why? Is it because they are currently managing teams (one close to home?) The non-league paper mentioned that a chap named Byrne who used to manage Hemel Hempstead was in the running.

Bit of a p1ss poor piece by Matt there. Hayes maybe a runner. For him to suggest he knows 3 of the candidates he must know the other 3 and you would think there are reasons for not giving them out. He should have said shortlist of 6 and this is the experience levels of them.
Daish? or people at a club.
The quotes from barry were good though and they are at least telling the fans the score.

I can see an announcment coming Friday night but with Proths still in charge Sat menaing the new manager has a chance to look at the team how we play and who plays where. This then gives him a whole week to work with the squad in preperation for Worcester.
I am upbeat that we will get this appointment right and we will push away from the position we find ourselves in at the moment.

I don't think it is a poor story by Matt - it is being talked about! I suspect Matt has been told he cannot reveal the names of the other three shortlisted candidates (and they, themselves, may have wished to keep their identity secret because, if they don't get the job, their current clubs may not be sympathetic). Overall, I think it is good that the Club and Matt are keeping us informed - and Matt does give us good service on Kentonline. Crikey, though, I did not realise that Barry was general manager - I'll have to doff my hat (when I next wear it).
In the realms of fantasy - what a coup it would be if Paul Barron, Steve Finnan or Tony Agana have applied! Did Tony used to manage Hednesford?

What i am getting at is... With 50 appointments we probably have stronger candidates than those mentioned.
It does seem like the fans are being kept in the dark and selective names being released.
We cant jusge who would be good or the best when 45 of them we havent been told of. I mean lets say Steve Perryman , Garry Hill, Mark Hone, have applied but we have only been told people like Kimble and Hayes.

I'd personally like to see Daish, he did excellently when in caretaker charge before we appointed Pennock. Went on to do well with Gravesend winning the trophy at Wembley with a squad which was supplemented by that tinpot site but I'm sure they only came in half way through the season so he shaped that squad himself.
And like you say JGFC he is young in managerial terms, and has experience at a higher level.
As for Matts piece, as a trainee journalist myself, I have learnt it can be a fine line between what you know and what you can print, for various reasons. He will have a valid reason for not naming the others.
Seeing as we supposedly know what most of the higher profile candidates/applicants look like, can somebody get to PVR at, say, 1.30pm on Saturday and stand at the gate? Maybe make note of who slips into the ground....?
Daish moans about the budget a gravesend so imagine what would happen if he came back here!!! for that reason he wont get it as they wont want the earache
Good point but then surely he will tell Kimble the score and he wont want it either.
The budget is still among mid table in this league and some of theose clubs in our range are doing well this season. Also if the recession eases they may get a few more quid.
Would be nice if we heard a bit more on the quality of applicants.
IE its down to 3
One an ex premier league player whos managed in the conference One ex ireland International with over 6 years experience as a Number 2 One was playing for a league club last season and has his coaching badges.
I am still unsure that we are going to take the strongest candidate out of the 50 and that worries me greatly, the fact that the names are remaining a secret means you cannot ever see if we have gone for an easy option.
Perhaps we will get a leak on here of whos applied, shouldnt really get leaks but if you are treated like a mushroom then the leaks will appear.
