Long ball out of defence by Finlay to David Pratt who took it into the penalty area and was taken down by a Welling defender. Matt Warner scored the penalty on 20 minutes. 1-0.
Yes, well done to come back and get a point Wings. Basingstoke may have hit poor form of late, but they were bound to try to turn it round for their manager at some stage.

We were much better 2nd half, 1st half we didnt get going at all. But as you say Mark if we can pick up points without playing well that is a good sign, plus we cant play well every week. We actually could of won it on our 2nd half performance although a draw was a fair result.
Just to add the support today was fantastic. Not sure of numbers but must have been 60 + and they noise was excellent. Just looked on Basingstoke forum and they have called us the noisest supporters that have visted them in years. Well done all.

Looking on the bright side of things we didn't play like we have over the past few weeks and still drew which is always a plus. Theirs was a needless penalty in the first place so we still havn't conceded in open play now for 4 games including today. New boys looked solid with Cutler having some good hard tackles but not sure we can say if they are going to be a King or a Stone yet.
Great support from the fans although we could of done without the incidents at the end.
Keep it up you Wings!!

not a bad game i have to say and apart from mr chip on shouder kicking off and grabbing me by the throat -and a private comment that stemmed from this forum lead to the trouble and i wont justify it as it ws private - and thankfully people i was with stuck up for me as it all starting kicking off but the fact is the bloke with hishands round my throat is a **** but i knw i wil be the enemy but when your own fans start on you i lose faith in the club
as a extra point we al support the same club but the bloke with the boots thhought hed kick off and my last comment to him stands but its a shame the game was soured by one of our own starting on me - i hope he posts on here and explans himself
You do realise don't you J that what happened to you was physical assault and that if you can identify him at a future game he can be arrested. Tell us on here what happened and tell the police. You have at least one witness on these forums as well, as another poster alluded to the incident. 60 fans turned up to this match to support us, so he shouldn't be very hard to identify. Oh and as for him replying to your comments, he doesn't come across as being very bright, so computers might be a bit beyond him!
Did'nt see it start or hear what was said, but Assault..police...all a bit OTT, more like handbags.......im sure the police have better things to deal with....... Lets all get behind Welling UNITED, bit of a clue there ..& make it on Tuesday nite.
Right back to the inportant thing... The match Its looking like a big ask, for Ryan to play at rightback. did hope that obersteller was going to be a R/B, when is Sambrook able to play ?....Faz still gives 100%, but looks likes his lost a bit of pace. Clarkie again played some great football, its good to see him back & look forward to seeing him & jack in the middle....when King comes back, as we do need him @ the back, also up front for cornors & free kicks. So if anyones has any up dates on our injury list be greatfull for some info.. Oh & finally...chelsea once had the cat in goal, Basingstoke now have The Squirrel..
The kerfuffle behind the goal gave something for the stewards to do. Not often you have to seperate 2 sets of supporters who support the same team!
As for the game it was a fair result. I think the Wings are getting used to playing at home on a reasonable pitch and could not adapt to the conditions mainly because we don't have the personnel i.e. no target man up front. A good header from Andrews for our goal. Poor tackle by Johnson for the penalty which might have been outside the area but still the way Basingstoke were shooting he might as well have let him go through and let Charlie have a chance at a save.
A big game now on Tuesday night against Chelmsford. We haven't got a great record against them of late. I hope we don't give away another penalty as Rainford will net once more. Turning to penalties we seem to have conceded a lot of them this year.
Can't be bothered to start a new thread about this but i was wondering about something. Have we received any money for Charlie Sheringham yet? I haven't heard anything about it in months. Surely it must have been sorted out by now.
