As as for Joao (pronounced "Wow" over the home tannoy?!) Carlos.........I didn't actually realised he had been substituted. Like most Welling fans present I thought he had gone to fetch a snorkel and some flippers......

Brett Smith was one of the committee of the supporters club many years ago, i believe his standing in the club has improved since.

Yes he is Dartford. They truly do feel they competed and were not played off the park. This just shows that we have nothing to worry about from them. If thats as good as they are more or less and satisfys the home fans they have a long way to go.

Remember this year when we play them and put them in their place next season.

What I like best about the match report is this sentance:

He was, however, withdrawn on 78 minutes Be that as it may, the lively Adam Burchell levelled matters with a typical goal four minutes later but two late strikes from Adam Marsh settled matters in Wellings favour.


Now, i'm no Journalist, but how can you condense reporting 3 of the 4 goals scored into one sentance which starts off describing when a player was subbed?

I'll tell you kev;

1st Goal- Bakare

Chipped in the box by Saunders from the right wing, total panick by the Dartford defence, ball falls to Bakare who knocks it in at the far post.

2nd Goal for Darts

Ref gave dogy free kick about 20 yards out. The taker shot on target but Mitten should have done better and only managed to fumble the ball away. A Dartford player was first to react and smashed the ball in.

3rd  Goal- Marsh

Can quite remember the build up but I think Finn was invloved. Marsh struck powerfully straight at the keeper from the edge of the box. He could n't keep it out but he probabley should have done.

4th Goal- Marsh

Good team play down the left hand side between Deane, Hurrel and Bakare. Deane was about to hold the ball in the corner when I shouted " Do n't do that get it in the mixer". He followed my instructions to find the unmarked Marsh who could n't miss from 5 yards out.  

If Pugh has gone and the guy from Wimbledon aint coming then he could be playing alongside Tommy!.

He may have done. Did n't see too well as I was behind the Welling goal. If he did play it was at centre back.

News Shopper's rule is whenever two of our sides meet in a derby (football or rugby), it is the regular reporter of the home team who gets to cover the game.

Mike Brett-Smith is the Dartford reporter correspondent so he did the game.

They are asked to get the line-ups from both sides as well if it is a football game. I note from reading this thread there are quite a few disputes about the Welling line-up for this report.

Therefore I've decided to remove both line-ups from this report to avoid any confusion.
