I think we should have a mention for CORINTHIANS and even WILLETT WANDERERS where he played alot more games. Not to forget the Kent U18S English county finalist (where he was captained by Tom Parkinson - younger brother of Jack) now applying his trade at Maidstone FC.

Was Welling United ever mentioned in the "Next Star" programme on Sky? It certainly was not mentioned on that Channel 5 programme last night. Quote from Your Thanet paper:
"The San Siro is a long way from Welling United's Park View Road, which was where Ben was originally planning to play his football this season."
(I seem to recall we once had the legend "San Siro" on the old stand roof advertising the car showroom across the road!)
He (BEN) said: 'There were a lot of problems because I had just signed a contract with Welling before I took part in the competition, but because I was 18 I was able to get out of it. 'In the end Welling were quite good about it, but it was quite stressful because it still hadn't been sorted out the night before the people on the show needed it to be. 'I joined Welling because the manager (Jamie Day) said a professional club would see me and sign me up, but I felt it was a better opportunity to take part in this competition and hopefully get snapped up by Inter'. Looks like he was right. But I think Sky TV and Inter Milan owe us a favour or two.

I watched the last programme and I am sure he had some vandanel training kit with the number 15 on it which I presume he had (stolen!) from his brief time at PVR. Also don't recall us getting a mention on any of the shows.
As ELB has said it is a real shame we don't have the old garage name on the stand anymore. There must be the potentail for an article about leaving one San Siro to join the other one.......!!
"Football Icon", "Football's Next Star", who is the next.........
Ben was talking live on talkSPORT this afternoon. He said that he has played in 2 reserve games and one of them was at left back. Inter said that he was good, but needed to hone his running back and tackling game. He came across as a bright young lad who knows what he wants - let's hope that he gets it ( outside left for Welling )

He's been taken on due to his attacking qualities I image, so to criticise him for not running back and tackling seems strange ... anyone remember Dolby at left-back ??!!??
