I gather from Kentonline that Andy Pugh is expected to move on loan to a Blue Square Premier club. Just my humble opinion, but I really think this would be a wrong decision. Andy has done well at Wings, has a good goalscoring rate and a fine understanding with his strike partner, Tom Whitnell. He knows his team mates, knows how the Wings play and has the strong support and respect of the fans. Why then move to the unknown quantity of a BSP club where he will have to earn his place, possibly start from the bench, try to get to know his team mates and the way they play. Goalscoring there may also be a problem.
But at the Wings he will always be among the goals and has undoubtedly been noticed already - he can only boost his reputation. Of course, it is a difficult decision for Andy and we must respect his wishes. He has given us a superb three months and we should thank Gillingham for letting us have him for so long.

I would think from Gillingham's point of view that they will want to see if he can perform at a higher level. I would guess that they know he can perform at BSS level but need to push him to see if he is worth a contract next season.
Disagree entirely.... and it is not necessarily to our detriment.
You have to agree season long loans at beginning and we have had him for the maximum three months we can on short term loans.
He goes to a BSP club and scores a bag load and gets retained by Gillingham or a gets a higher league club than us at the end of the season. Good for the player and he doesn't turn up at anyone we are due to play against.
If he goes there and it doesn't work out and gets released by Giliingham at the end of the season he knows there is a level where it does work for him and he is wanted, in which case, I'd reckon we have a good chance of getting him.
A logical argument Stafford. But, as I had pointed out earlier, Andy may have to adjust to a new style of play and new team mates - and may even end up as a squad member taking up bench space. Why not (from our selfish point of view) carry on what he was doing well here, and being noticed, until the end of season?
Jamie Day is on record (KM Kentonline) as stating that he wants to take over Andy's contract from Gillingham until the end of the season - which can be done, on a permanent basis, in addition to the maximum 3 months' loan

There is no work around getting Andy this season. He enjoyed it here according to the press. We are in with a shout of getting him. We cant really lose out. Gills and Addicks have seen that Welling is a good place to send those on fringes of the first team squad. If they then get released then we have a chance.
Had Arter been here this season EG we probably would have got him. Mind you we may have gone for Moses and he scores less than Osama Bin Laden on broad street of a weekend.
