About the amount of bird crap on the seats and everywhere else.
Not only is it a health hazard we ask people to pay an extra quid to sit down and it cant be creating a good impresssion with visiting supporters. So my suggestion is that we need to take a pressure washer to the seats and area and a airgun to speckled Jim and his Mrs wo are nested in the rafters
Perhaps some one at Gentrys needs some target practice or we can get a hawk on patrol for a while-Eagle heights may be able to help I'm sure
The lack of common sense really annoys me. Regardless of who's stand it is, mop up the bird crap! Don't know how expensive they are, but stick some of those plastic spikes to stop the pigeons nesting in there. It's the same old story throughout the ground. So often you see weeds growing at the park end. It's embarrassing. PULL THEM UP! THROW DOWN SOME WEEDKILLER! Honestly, how lazy and or skint are the club that they can't carry out such routine maintenance?
Its all health and saftey ben. Some kid drops a sweet and eats it weedkiller on it, club get sued. Madness.
Agree with the spikes for the pigeons. But how many would it need? Hundreds and it isnt cheap. should have been put in at the start and that would be entirely Erith's fault as it was when "their" side of the ground was developed.
Hard to criticise our club over this. Are they even allowed to do stuff over there without Erith's say so.
I hate having Erith at PVR.

Actually, I brought three mates with me yesterday and to be honest we had the same problem in the seats just outside the lounge. We had to move along so was the amount of bird poo on one of the seats in particular. I know there's plenty of other seats to choose from but it did give them a great oppotunity to give me some stick.
I am glad you started this post, as I had two guests with me who live locally, like football, but don't come to welling. As I was down for the weekend and I rarely see them, they came along with me to see the wings and we sat in the stands...
...the bird mess was the first thing one of my friends mentioned, the second was his girlfriend mentioning the strong smell of fox p:ss (and she should know working in environmental health)!
I don't think they will be returning, as money is tight and paying eleven quid in those conditions (not to mention the first half performance) is simply a disgrace.

Can't comment on bird crap as none noticed where I sit, however I can make a comment about weedkiller. I went to a meeting recently on my estate and weedkiller was raised. Businesses, local authorities etc are required to use weedkillers that cannot be bought in B&Q etc. Last year the EEC banned most of these as being too dangerous. The chap from my council was going to a meeting that week as he understood the EEC was about to ban the the last remaining one he was allowed to use. It looks like the only solution is to pull them up.
Wow so many tetchy people. I'm walking around in semi-heaven at Wellings serene progress and other people are moaning about crap on seats or people moaning about crap on seats or how bad the first half was yesterday or people saying how bad it was. What time would we need to get there on Eater Monday to clean the seats? If someone gives me a cloth, a bucket of water and some Marigolds (large and yellow, not pink) then I'm happy to oblige.
Why not turn up and HELP and not expect EVERYTHIG to be done for you...we are a small club with limited resources
Have you noticed how good the pitch is.....Yes so have I....that helps the football.....Everything cannot be done with very few people
Mark, I am more than willing to assist with the weeding as long as its not alone. If I have to get down on my hands and knees with my knee joints I would never get up again without help.
FFS Mark people recognise how good the pitch is and how how well the team are doing. No one is pointing fingers and saying we should be doing more.
What is raised is a basic point of cleanliness that if enough could be a H&S issue. Resouces are limited yes thats understood, its an observation spoken about and raised and then seems to be recognised than by more people.
The WSU do a good job and so do the club, supporters should be able to make an observation without being shot down in flames. Maybe someone has an easy answer before people are criticised.
I've got a bit of a mould patch growing in my bathroom. Even though I have guests round I still ain't bothered to clean it up. How about I let someone from the club come round to my flat to give my bathroom a good scrub. While I'm at it I'll charge them ten quid as they walk through my door.
Of course, I'm joking! I'll clean my own bathroom as it's MY RESPONSIBILITY!!

Exactly, I know what the club is, where it's come from and how well Day has turned things around this season, but new people are not going to return if they pay eleven quid to sit in and smell s@:t for a few hours.

Quality post Ben.
I think JGFC idea about inviting the Council in - that will be the people that get a chunk of our money - and see how they can help is a good idea.
It doesn't look like the Council have a service to remove pigeons. They'll deal with mice, rats, fleas, wasps etc but not pigeons. They don't actually do the service themselves for pest control but contract it out to private firms.
I've not seen the problem so I don't know the extent of it but would be willing to help the Club out by cleaning the seats. Are there and like minded supporters who would be willing to help out? If so please post below giving some idea of when you would be available and I will speak to Barrie offering assistance.

I'd be happy to help clean the seats on Easter Monday - I'd even bring my own marigolds (it would be inadvisable to clean them without gloves - risk of disease, serious point).
I must add, that being a frequent user of the New Stand, I often notice changes that others may not.
A certain nest of the pigeon variety has recently been removed from the New Stand so hopefully this should stop the fouling (on the seats anyway).
Though I must admit, I will miss Peter the Pigeon who often flew up to greet us during the game and provided us with lots of entertainment over the years. Including a recent fight with a rival bird, where Peter showed this foreign pigeon a thing or two about life in the wild. Plus another time when Peter felt his nest was in need of a rebuild and duly threw old twigs and sticks all over the unsuspecting chap below.
No, I haven't gone mad, the above is all true.

Sadly James - the same can't be said for all the stand. We were watching the game on Saturday with four of the little buggers in the roof. We have watched as they crap on people in the stand. Now if I was some-one popping in for the occasional game it would put me off - think I would go somewhere else to watch my football.
And Mark - get a grip. Please compare like with like. I also manage lots of people - but to suggest that the techniques I use at work are the same as for a fee paying punter is ridiculous.
It would be comparable to saying that you have a problem with your sales team and you want your customers to come up with the solution and put it right for you. Get real.
Glad to see some sense here. If I had a duff meal in a restaurant I wouldn't expect the owner to tell me to cook it myself next time
No one is having a pop at the club, as I have said everyone does a great job, but if I stub my toe on a step at the ground I dont expect to have to turn up the next week with a bag of cement to put it right.
Yes we do ask our customers what we could do better and also what they would suggest.....it is common sense
Dont assume that we are doing the right thing....find out whether we are doing the right thing
Yes you can certainly compare like for like
I would say the same to my daughter.....meaning (as it doesnt seem to be getting there)...think before you say something then estalish what an aswer could be
so.....maybe when this issue came up maybe another way would have been.....
.....we have an issue with ****ting pigeons in the new stand...how about if some of us help out getting it cleared a bit each home game....there...an answer that is a possibilty
But I guess whilst there are people prepared to moan but not prepared to help then it will never change
Me.....I am looking forward to another three points tomorrow with or without pigeon ****...fox piss...cow dung or dinasour droppings
Mark X I think your reply is very patronising and in my opinion really misses the point.
In my opinion Welling United is a business and you do not ask your paying custumers to come and clear up the filthy mess that is being created in the new stand.
As for people offering to put on gloves and clean the seats .noble effort chapsbut Ican assure you,you will need more than a bowl of water and a cloth to win this battle.
