The issue of sponsorship has been exercising the mind of Barrie and Barry (and no doubt many other clubs this season). Margate are actively considering a new approach which sounds very much like that suggested by JgFc on this forum.
Taken from an update given by Margate Director Cliff Egan and published on their website.
"Cliff revealed that the club are looking at a new idea that would bring the possibility of kit sponsorship to a much broader business and supporter base.
Were looking at something a little bit new for next season as far as shirt (kit) sponsorship is concerned he said. Were looking basically to get 60 people (businesses, individuals or groups) to put in a £300 donation each.
For this donation, each business, individual or group will be entered into a draw for a range of sponsorship, advertising and season ticket prizes. Indeed, everyone that makes a donation under the scheme will receive a prize.
Weve looked at it (the scheme) and were certain we can give value for money for every person that puts money into the club (on this basis).
Well bring full details of this scheme over the next few days on the website and in the match day programme."

If the Club went for it I would definitely donate, although I'd be a tad embarrassed to find my name on the shirt or indeed an advertising hoarding. 59 to go.
