I see that Jamie has had talks with Maidstone right back Nathan Paul (according to Kentonline) but, amazingly, we can't match the wages he was paid at Maidstone!

If we cant pay better wages than Maidstone United then something is very wrong. They have to ground share at Ashford with only gate receipts as income are trying to build a new ground, and the chairman says they have to live within their means.
Would someone please explain what is going on.

I guarantee you that we can match Maidstone's wages for him, we are just choosing not to as it will then prevent the money we can spend in other areas. Its all relative. I could get a £50k motor if I wanted to, but then wouldnt be able to eat, so I dont. Simples.
I think you are right Kevin - Jamie needs to prioritise where he spends his money. He would hope that Nathan would accept a realistic wage and the chance to further himself at a higher level. Obvioulsy not enough to tempt him away from Maidstone.
It was always on the cards that Adam was coming to the wings surley the friendship means nothing when it comes to money.
I have heard that Dartford will be spending big during the summer as they intend to really compete in this league
Not bothered by Gross not coming to us. He didn't exactly set PVR on fire when he was here before.
I'd have thought that Dartford's budget is already way above that of many sides in the Connie South and they should therefore be capable of being very competittive without an increase in their budget if money spent = success. However, you only have to look to our KSC game with them this season to see that spending power does not automatically equate to success.
Teams that go all out for rapid promotion through the non league pyramid to the league with the spend spend spend mentality rarely achieve their aim. If it is true that Dartford intend to spend big with the intention of going straight through to the Conference Premier then IMO they have got it wrong and their aim should be to consolidate and re-establish themselves at our level before mounting a serious effort to gain promotion.
