I have no problem with Daisy releasing people or not offering contracts but the proviso is bring in someone to replace them who are PROVEN better at our standard.

Bringing in only players proven at our level to replace those that Jamie didn't put on the retained list is but a pipe dream and wouldn't guarantee a successful team. We've seen many a side over the years splash the cash on proven players from our level and above only to find that they either don't gel, egos disrupt the dressing room or they simply don't produce the goods.
Far more importantly it would stifle the careers of young players who have proven themselves ready for the step up from lower divisions. Granted they may not make it but the opportunity to prove themselves at a higher level has to exist. If the door is closed where do the footballers of the future come from?
IMO there has to be a balance of experienced players and younger players who have shown potential which the right coaching (and I believe we have that at PVR) will continue to develop.

Indeed but no point releasing a player who has been successful, has a good attitude and is an asset for a gamble on a lower league player to replace him?
If we have holes in the squad or team that need filling and the budget is near ly used then of course we need to take a gamble on one or two players. Making the situation hard by replacing decent players we already had, and chose to release woy uld be shooting ourselves in the foot.
***STOP PRESS***
Jamie is quoted on kentishfootball as saying he is glad that Whitnell has accepted the contract he offered.
Anyone have any news on this? If he has signed a contract then fair play to him.

Hes calling the shots there (Whitnell) and can piss off when he likes this way, I wouldnt get too excited.
We could be left right in the ****e, i can understand why he didnt want to sign straight away. But he should sign a contract if he does stay as its being fair to the club and the fans.
If he gets a move away to a higher club then Welling will benefit from helping him progress.
Its a muted positive thing for me, Its like i will stay but i want to be free to go when i want.
Not exactly committing to the Club like the rest of the players have by signing contracts.
Well said that man, proved correct.

The way we have been playing, and therefore the chances he is likely to get even if only playing cameo parts, should still means he gets goals. Im assuming the paycut pre-season and the lack of game time, in equal measure, are the reason for leaving.
Good riddance to bad rubbish then, even if his attitude is superb, if he has his father talking rubbish in his ear every five seconds its not going to last.
Everyone wants the best for their children, but is he better than Pugh or Cumbers ?? no, and that means bench or go elsewhere. Simples.
One Joe Healy would have been below Whitnell in the Pecking order and he worked hard, got his chance and has performed, and when left out he got back in and performed again.
These are the players we need, at the start of the season we probably all would have let Healy go and kept Whitnell. Players have the chance to show what they are made of and Healy has been phenomenal, Whitnell has been forgetable.
Clarkey last year was unfit and got shocking reviews, he rolled his sleeves up, went away got fit, came back and scored 16 goals and performed week in week out and has been phenomenal too and travels from Peterborough.
These players deserve the praise they get and the support they get if it doesnt come off. They have been a huge plus for our club.
Others just sod off and play elsewhere as they arent good enough and have no fight or moral fibre.
Jamie has said our team play for each other and the fans and the club and long may it continue.
COME ON YOU WINGS lets come out on all guns blazing tomorrow and pass it and KEEP UP the great form.
Every player in our squad has committed to us and sweated blood, Whitnell chose the door. I agree with Kevin.
