He was due to sign for Bromley BUT Day has stepped in and he will take a pay cut to join us

Also another midfielder who played BSS last year is hopefully joining again taking a pay cut

Sambrook also likely to sign...errrrr....taking a pay cut

I tell you what daisy obvioulsy has some clout with these players...he obvioulsy is selling the club well and his ambitions too

Happy Days

Signing a player from D****** - is that allowed?? I can see season tickets being burnt on the streets of Welling for that.......

I suppose Daisy has worked with the bloke and knows what he is capable of but I still don't like the idea!!

Contrary to many I think Sambrook is a decent player. If (and I realise it is a rather large if) he can stay fit then I think he will be very handy as a right back and back up centre half. Someone also told me he played well as a holding midfielder at Worcester last season??

Like Mark I think it is really postive that people are signing for us and accepting reduced terms as it suggests they are all buying into the club and what the manager is trying to do.

have to say it is looking good at the moment - just think a few years back we had neil smith in charge and i dont think we had any players signed at this stage!

agree

that's why a decent cup run and these big friendlies are so important as you get bigger crowds and if we can get a few extra fans in who stick with us it's great for the club

Team will bond this season, it looks like we are attracting quality players despite the country being in the grip of a terrible recession. The players are willing to lower their wage expectations and sign for our club.

The very basis of the team Jamie is building is based on good ethics and give and take. None of these mercinaries looking for an extra £40 and willing to sod off at the first waving of a wallet from a chairman elsewhere.

Well done to the players and of course Jamie. To Wings 63..

"How will we compete with these clubs willing to pay more like Dartford?"

You will have to ask Daisy mate, but he seems to be doing a ******* good job of it :)

Jamie Coyle has been one of our best players over the last few seasons, he also runs the Dartford acadamy team. He had a dip in form last year and lost his starting place in the team. He can play at right back or central defence. With Dartord signing two central defenders from Braintree he probably thought that he would not start and having played with Daisy has decided to join you. This is a very good signing for you to go with some of the other one's made I think you will do well this coming season.

Our manager was signed as a player from les Douvres and as a manager from Dirtford.

If we can forgive that we can forgive anything!!!

Never been fussed about so called rivalry with Dover - they are 60+ miles away from us and I can't get too worked up about games with them

Daisy was a Welling player before he signed for D****** and he realised he had dumbed down a bit and has come back where he belongs!!

Yes its good he came here for less money but lets not get to carried away with it, he was only offered pre-season at Dartford so must of been offered first team football here, so he was bound to go anyway on a contract, in my opion they was a better defender from Dartford that as also just been offered pre season and that is John Beales what as happened about Rob Haworth

LOL! Just how anti Welling are you?

Daisy has signed players from other clubs that have been wanted by others,

Pugh, Cumbers, Coyle.

You said how can we compete with other clubs who will pay more. You have had your answer, Jamie has competed with other clubs and signed them and even gazzumped Bromley to sign Coyle.

You impart more spin than Murilitharan and Mendes.

Well done Daisy, keep it up.

What's your beef? Supporters here doubt that you have any allegiance to Welling and the fact that you seem to believe that Beales is better than Coyle suggests you know too much about Dirtford. I wouldn't have a clue on who are their best players.

As for Haworth, he would have been behind Pugh, Cumbers, Whitnell and possibly Lawson in the pecking order so missing out on him is not a disaster.

Why not play last season's top scorer up front?

good question russ,is it because mr day intends to play midfield with clarke so clarke can provide the passes forwards need having played up front himself.

Good point. Even though Jamie Day has stated he would be used in midfield, I would hope there would be flexibility for him to go up front when necessary. Dean Cracknell re-signing will help with that.

1. He's too slow
2. He's better in midfield
3. Most of his goals were penalties and or scored against Weymouth

Chris

Do you mean hes slower than we have up front? He was class last year, smashed loads of goals home and played in Midfield and up top.

Sheringham (both) were paceless but found the net regularly. I do think Lee will be better in midfield and still score loads and we have the option of throwing him up front if we need to in a game.

Definitely feel we would rather have Clarkey in our team than playing against us.

JGFC I agree Clarkey was class for us in midfield last season and am delighted he has re-signed.

However his two spells up front last season were not successful. Earlier in the season we were dreadful and he was coming back from a long term injury but after Pugh left we totally fell apart.

I am not sure that is quite right Chris. He was our top scorer with 16 and many of these were scored when he was palaying up front. Early in the season he was not fit anf I think it was well known that he did not get on with the management team at that point. When he came up from loan, with Jamie in charge, I thought he did really well - both in midfield and attack.

Well put Chelwing.  Lee had an operation before the season started and was bound to be a bit sluggish in trying to regain match fitness.  He will never be the fastest player on the pitch, but his positioning, passing and intelligent movement is beyond question.  And he scores goals - lots of them.  Consequently, Daisy obviously rates him very highly and he was one of the first players to be offered terms. Clarke is a class act.
