I believe he has been signed to play up front with Andy Pugh.

An AFC Womble supporter told me he was brilliant as a striker on loan to them in the Rymans but last season he played for them behind the front two.

DK, Don't know much about Cumbers beyond the facts already posted elsewhere on the forum but the way I see it is that he will be used as a strike partner to Pugh.

The official Gills verdict when we 'captured' both Pugh and Cumbers was "Cumbers and Pugh enjoy a great understanding on the pitch and are sure to prove a potent strike force for the Wings next season." and when tied in with Jamie having targetted 2 strikers and having signed both Pugh and Cumbers the intention is clear in my book.

The fact that Cumbers can also play wide or behind the strikeforce gives Jamie some extra flexibility knowing that we have Whitnell who too forged an effective partnership with Pugh last season.
