England team v Slovenia: James; Johnson, Terry, Upson, A Cole; Milner, Barry, Lampard, Gerrard; Defoe, Rooney.

Four central midfield players? What is he thinking?

Drop Lampard and Milner for J Cole and Lennon and we might stand a chance.

Milner to be fair was naturally a winger at Newcastle until O'Neil decided to push him into the centre. Agree that J.Cole should be playing though, seems all England fans except Capello see this.

Some of Milner's crosses were superb (including the goal). He may not go past people but neither did Beckham.

When I saw Milner in the line up I groaned. It just shows what I know!

GREAT WITHOUT HESKEYLATOR AND CARRAGER

WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN BETTER WITHOUT "RAY WILKINS / DAVID BATTY CLONE" LAMPARD. SHOULD START WITH GERRARD IN MIDDLE INLIEU OF LAMPARD WITH J.COLE WIDE LEFT

AINT GOT THE A'HOLE TO DROP CRAP LAMPARD

Agreed. Lampard must go. He's pretty much useless for England.

He does well for CHELSEA but NOT INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL

I don't think Barry deserved his place either.

I couldn't understand replacing Rooney with Cole. Should have taken Barry off and brought Crouch on but at the end of the day we're through to the next round.

Yes and let's have Dawson, Huddlestone, Bentley, Rose, Glenn Hoddle, Clive Allen, Martin Chivers, Alan Mullery and anyone else you can think of in the team...............

Dawson should have started ahead of Upson. Lampard useless again in an England shirt.

Gerrard got us going, we were horrible first 10 minutes. Not great after but the effort of most of them including Johnny Pants-Roundankles at the back was good.

We have nothing to fear against the germans, then just sh1t ourselves against the Argies. Have a nasty feeling the late american goal has made it too hard for us.

spot on

the difference between finishing first and second in that group was massive and a run to the final would be too much for us as we will have to beat every top team

Rooney must be carrying a knock.

What is he thinking? Pray tell me what the **** Lennon has done to justify his place in the squad.

I think we have  ended up in the easy half of the Draw
Germany NOT that strong compared to previous dominance - young team that may be good in 4 years time. The Argies are very good attacking wise (would worrry about Carragher having to mark Mezzi, as he has looked micky mouse against poor players) but think Argies are poor defence wise, compared to there team normally.
Got a feeling Paraguay may surprize and have a good run in this half of the draw.

The harder half of draw Brazil, Holland and possible Spain if there end up 2nd in their group, thou think and hope Uruguay (well forlan - got 66/1 for golden boot) will go a long way

I heard a good one in the pub yesterday.

A bloke said this World Cup is like World War II all over again. The French and Italians surrendered. The Yanks came too late and we end up fighting the Germans again.
