Just for the fans that would be interested. How many turned up for the Algeria game?

30odd for USA and 20odd for Algeria to be honest its the same apathy over and over again by Welling supporters.

So its not really worth it is it?

I have been advised that the Wings Bar will not be opening up for the Germany game.

Despite many saying that they were going to come for the Algeria game the official count was 16.

Like me, I'm sure Matt, Gary & Barry are wondering why they wasted a whole Sunday and a Tuesday evening installing the projector etc.

The fans of Welling United don't deserve a successful Welling United.

And the crazy thing is that they will cram into some other establishment and suffer utmost discomfort. Frankly, I do not understand this desire to cram into pubs wearing England shirts and be charged for it --- and possibly wait ages to be served.

Correction. The people that said they would turn up or implied that they would, then didn't make an effort to go to the clubhouse, don't deserve a succesful Welling United.

What?! The majority of the fans just have the common sense to avoid the bar! It's awful. How many Wings fans pre game are seen drinking in the Nags/Turnpike/Guy. Then at half time there is a mass exodus for a pint from the Guy next door too! Maybe if we had a better clubhouse people would have wanted to come, the low numbers suggest otherwise.

Russ

I appreciate your efforts for the club, but to spout off that Welling United fans do not deserve a successful Welling United is utter rubbish and I think you should consider your words before typing in future.

I would be a bit fecked off had i installed it all and no one showed up.

Having said that a bit of marketing and real effort to get bodys there would help. New Polo Shirts? Tracksuit tops or something anything to get bodys there. Impromtu meet the manager/relaxed gathering , a bit more notice and pushing it.

Hopefully now its all installed the club can push events on the tannoy, on the official site and in the programme and generate interest.

People are not used to the bar being open so many wouldnt have had a clue. Was it in the newsshopper or SVBT?

If the WSU or club had a mailing list where they could email people or better SMS the latest at the club then this would have helped. This is a good idea for next season. A way of contacting all interested supporters with one click.

Its easy to install a mailing list script that can send out emails or SMS messages.

Im not here to Stir anything up just point out from both sides.

I Can understand Russ's Frustration, I set up 2 band evenings and like most gigs it was all yeah yeah great I'll be there... then no show. OK circumstances prevent some turning up.  So I looked at it so long as the club/wsu made money then it was a success and a couple of grand plus to me is.

Despite the small number of people there for both games, which I admit I thought would be better. The Atmosphere and banter was good.

I appreciate not everyone is happy with the Beer, Deco, etc and the club house in general leading to an exit elsewhere for a bevy.! BUT Its Like a never ending circle without the monies coming in how can it improve, and if its not improved then no-one drinks. YET on Quiz nites I see a few faces happy to drink there and the same few faces Seem only to drink there at half time on match days.  I would love to see a Club house to make us proud.

The ohter advantages of using the club house for the ENGLAND Games was £1 entry, 3 screens, seating and no worries of it kicking off like numerous pubs passed on the way home.
BUT the main thing is its money going to the club.

Maybe Russ was a bit hasty in his words but as I've put on a previous post We should all be WELLING and UNITED.

How many wings use this forum, if this was the only form of advertising the game you cant be angry at  a low turn out. Very harsh having a go at fellow wings if they are not with the in crowd or have no internet available.

I said I MIGHT turn up - that is not me saying i WILL turn up

and plus i now drink in the guy at games as last time i was in the clubhouse i had one of the worst pints of kroneburg(sp) ive ever had

and also i appreciate the blokes behind the bar are just fans who help out but it's bloody annoying getting a pint and having to down it in 30secs as they want the glasses back
