Healy is useless , terrible signing, had plenty of chances and is a poor signing.

I hope Lawson signs, surely the money used on healy could have been split between getting better players to sign.

Why is he offering deals before the gate is known for Arsenal? Signing the poorer players before those that are better.

I hope we dont lose the good players and keep those that we know arent good enough.

Healy and Sambrook should have been offered deals if we had money left over.

Come on Laws, sign. But can understand if the offer is too low.

And if Healy or Daisy think thats harsh, feel free to post his games to wins ration and goals to game ratio in the games hes played for Welling.

We have better than healy at the club who havent been signed so for that reason alone its a poor signing. I hope the lad gets 15 goals this year in the league and says up yours Jgfc, i will be the first to applaud him, but he just aint got it.

From what I have seen of Joe pre-season he looks pretty sharp.  I am wondering whether Jamie sees him as a further option in midfield as well.  I really hope James Lawson signs so that we fans can see what we missed last season. It will be a bitter disappointment if he goes to Hornchurch.

Bertie

He looks sharp? How many times has he played for Welling? Didnt we pick him back up from the Kent league? Hes a journeyman who hasnt produced the goods and doesnt even look like scoring. Has he had a shot in pre season?

Fair play to Lawson if he goes, he came back to give us first option, got fit. So if he goes then i will not criticise him.

Im dumbfounded we dont offer Whitnell enough to get him to sign then we sign Healy and may miss out on Lawson. Bin Healy and use the money to get Lawson and Whitnell on contract. We would still have Clarke, Pugh, Cumbers, Lawson and Whitnell then..

Is Daisy mates with Healy or something? same as Sambrook?

If someone can tell me the positives in signing Healy ahead of quality players and also ahead of better strikers on trial then i'm all ears.

I am really struggling to see how Healy has got a contract ahead of others.

The only thing i can i can think of, is that Healy and Jamie get on real well as you suggested. Who knows, maybe Healy has some hidden goal keeping skills we don't know about. Or maybe he is being kept on to help out on the turnstiles on match day.

Not a Healy fan either but have to give him a chance. If the management feel he can offer something then we have to trust them. I was quite impressed with Lawson at the Charlton game and hope we can get him too....I think Healy will be a squad player at best with three strikers already ahead of him in Pugh, Q and Whitnell.

However I am not signing up to the anti Sambrook bandwagon that seemed to arrive last season and is still going on. If (and I realise it is a rather large if) he is fit he is more than capable of playing at full back/centre half in this league.

Wont disagree with that, but its a gamble. Did he earn a contract ? Remember he also had a shocking spell. Surely Femi is faster, has more to come. You have experience with Coyle already. If we sign Achempong and hes still here, tell me where Sambrook gets a game?

How many spells as Healy had here? Since leaving Millwall hes had about 10 clubs and not scored at any real level. I hope me slagging him off gives him a kick up the arse.

Jamie did well last season, ballsed up leaving himself out vs Lewes, but done really well. Hes also attracted some great players in pre season but thats no use if we use the budget up on Journamen who have never done it at our level or are past it.

Agree though Mr Socks we have to trust him so. Perhaps a little harsh on Healy its not his fault if the manager thinks hes good enough. Hopefully hes inspired to work his balls off and score loads now hes not had a vote of confidence on here and ive said hes useless.

My one critiscm is why would you be signing squad players when we have better still on trial. You sign the squad players late to add to the main players.

Maybe it's just Lawson wishing to play regular first team football and Day cannot guarantee him this at the present time?

Also, Healy may consider himself as a squad member and is looking to play well when he gets a chance and see what happens!

Perhaps we have seen more players like this than Jamie.

Lloyd Blackman, Adrian Stone, Jake Hobbs, Joe Healy... they are basically upto kent league and not our level.

Thats a good post but Jamie has said that he can only offer lawson the amount he has. So that would suggest that its financial, hence my point about why sign a striker worse than lawson. When we have 5 at the club. I could understand it completely if it was couldnt offer him first team football, but that doesnt appear to be the case.

To just have a body like Healy but lose one of or both of Lawson or Whitnell is suicidal.
We could have kept one of Whitnell or Lawson on better money and let Healy go. This way we could lose two good front men and we get Healy?

Ooops. Lets hope Lawson and Whitnell sign or weve screwed up by signing Healy and using up money better placed.

My worry is why do we need 6 strikers? This is the number we will have if James Lawson signs, so I think two or three will add to our midfield option. On the other hand, are our numbers likely to become depleted for some reason?

Wouldn't be that surprised if Whitnell left/was released now. Cumbers and Pugh look to be ahead of him in the pecking order, and Lawson could well be as well if he stays. Then as a 4th striker Healy has the advantage over him in that he is likely to be on less money and probably be more content with not playing as much. With Clarke also more than able to move up from midfield if the others are injured/suspended, Whitnell's decision not to sign a contract may have backfired on him

Another good post.

But to be fair if he was offered much lower then you can see why he didnt sign. Agree that he could possibly be released or just leave.

Who's the sixth striker? Pugh and Cumbers will start in the first IX with Withnall, Healy and Lawson (if signed) in reserve. If you mean Clarke, l think he will be in midfield along with Day, Fazakerley and Dadson(?)

I think four strikers will be enough therefore l would prefer Lawson over Healy!

I don't think Tommy is going anywhere.  The instant link-up again with Andy Pugh at Herne Bay makes it essential that he stays on.

I feel sorry for Adam Marsh, scored ****loads in ressies and lower and not even given a chance yet we sign Healy.

Struggling to see reasons for some of the choices, if its down to money then surely Marsh gets the deal as hes scored for us and prolific goals to game ratio.

Not sure about the thinly veiled attack on Lawson in Kent Online. Surely we had no choice but to honour his contract last season. If Hornchurch is the better offer he's right to consider it especially with the likes of Healy being signed ahead of him.

Spitey i was just going to post after Pantings swipe at Lawson, maybe it was meant as a reality check for Laws. Stay at Welling who want to see what you can do or drop down for a few more quid.

If it didnt work at Hornchurch hes donald ducked and has dropped down. If he does the bizzo for us then he could get a move back to the league or conference.

Hes got the support of the fans so would be nice if he stayed loyal.

Also Jamie says Pires can play up front.

Mitten

I think we will be attacking this season.

Healy signs ( unbelievable ) lawson asking for to much money ( shame ) he would have been a big asset.

Jamie might have done the right thing. But the two he chose will do his talking. 2 for 1 isnt bad if they perform. The quality of the squad is the best weve had, we are talking about one player maybe not being good enough. In previous squads under Parker and Smith we had 10 or more who were crap.

Time to get behind Healy. Hes been given a big chance by Daisy and he has a lot of motivation to win over the fans on his 2nd or 3rd spell here. He needs to buckle down now and score. I am sure Daisy will be geeing him up.

Everyone hopes hes scores sackloads for us.

Jamie did make an offer to Lawson so its not as if hes kicked him out. Looks like hes gone now, so we can only get behind Healy, its up to him.

I was impressed by Healy's hold up play last night. This means either he or Pugh can do this job while Cumbers, Whitnall and Pires can score the goals. An added bonus is that Pugh is no mean goalscorer himself!

However l feel that if Healy doesn't score enough goals, the crowd will be on his back after a few games!

Cumbers and Pugh look great together against a decent Millwall side and should destroy teams in our division with the right service. As for Pugh not being a goalscorer he has scored at every level having to adapt to different styles of play at different teams the same for cumbers. Exciting times, roll on August 14th biggrin
